Shipment delays?

Hey, I was just wondering about the longest time you’ve had a Crested Gecko delayed in shipping.
I shipped a little guy off Thursday morning, I pre-packed him the night before. He still hasn’t arrived at the destination he’s suppose to.
I’m sure he’s alright, and I may be paranoid. How long do you think he’ll be okay for?

Can you give us details about what you did? General area from origin to destination, shipping company, box, heat/cool pack, etc.

Sorry,
He went from Gainesville, Fl to Myrtle Beach, SC. I used SYR and he was in a 12x9x6. No heat pack was required for shipping.

I just got an update that the buyer received it.

This is only the third animal I’ve shipped and it’s nerve wracking for me.

That’s great! I haven’t sent/received an animal through the mail yet and I can imagine that when I do it will be quite stressful.

I recently had a leo shipped to me, and there was a 1-day delay. She was just fine when she arrived, though she complained that the seats were too narrow and that she hadn’t been offered snacks/soda during the flights.

I couldn’t go through that, we use reptile couriers in the UK and even that makes me worry, when really I have no need to worry.

So glad the reptile was safe

It’s really not a good idea to ship live animals on Thursdays. If your package does not arrive the following day due to a delay, it won’t arrive until Monday, which is too long. The industry standard is to only ship Mon-Wed. Some, including myself, have also stopped shipping on Monday due to more frequent delays on that day.

I have bought 14 in the last few months, used various specialist reptile couriers.
I do worry in the UK, None seem to do next day, In between pick up and drop off, they keep the animals together for too many days for my liking, risking cross infection and they often arrive cold. Despite supposedly having heated vans.
One went to the wrong address so I had to wait till the following month.
I had a non reptile specialist 24 hour courier recommended to me by Balls2u. Personally I would rather use them. Although not heated there are always heat packs for that.

I had a few Cresties held by the courier for 10 days, they lost so much weight and some of them were baby cresties so I was extremely worried.

I have recently used a courier, arranged by the seller, that offers 72 hour guarantee, but my reptile was collected in the evening and delivered at 7am the next morning so was really pleased with them. Only problem is that are only on Facebook, which I don’t have and so I won’t be able to arrange for another.

I’ve got another courier I’m going to try, but they only cover the bottom half of England.

I’d worry too much of we didn’t have couriers.

I don’t get the Facebook only companies. I would rather more personal and responsive contact arrangements.
Anyway, I will Message you the details of the 24 hour courier I mentioned if you like.

Yes please? I’m not planning on purchasing reptiles for a few months, but would be great to have them to hand for when I do.

I don’t understand Facebook. I’ve seen so many sellers use Facebook, but surely it makes more sense to have a website and use somewhere like morph market? Makes more sense to me, esp as you can make it more personal or professional (which ever you aiming for). Yes it takes more effort, but isn’t that a good thing?

I sent the info  See what you think.
I agree 100% about having a website . Its not much more effort and alot more professional.

The Only courier I use is Steve at animal courier. Used him for years and every Reptile got here safe and in perfect condition. He keeps them warm and evens mists them etc. Lovely guy and cannot rate him highly enough.
The last few times I’ve used walkers arranged by other people, but I will say they do not have heated vans etc so it’s up to you on taking the risk, but if you or other person put the animal in a tub and then in a poly box etc then they’re fine. They’re also next day. My female amel will be coming via them next week.
But I will forever use Steve. He’s my number 1.
I also had a bad experience with CBM as did a lot of others, so quite glad they’re not running anymore.

I hadn’t realised CBM stopped running, I had a few deliveries from them, but the last one was off-putting for me. I had tried animal courier but I never heard back.

Would love to see pics of your new girl when you get her? I love a new reptile, I’m debating about getting a RTB girlie as my females just aren’t there yet

Thank you, I intended on shipping him on Wednesday but I over extended myself and missed going to FedEx. I’m for sure only going to ship Tuesdays and Wednesdays from now on.

Yeah, they were taken on by someone else which is how they got so bad and now not running atm. Quite a few couriers have stopped atm actually.
Ah you have to give him a call on his mobile, usually evening say after 6/7, I usually phone him around 8pm, and then he’ll tell you to send over all details of to and from and then message back to say booked

I’ll put some up when she’s here. Unfortunately on the skinny side She is only fed 1/2 crickets or locust daily… and 3/4 wax worms every 2/3 days… But I feel like she’ll have a great life here with endless amounts of bugs! My boy will literally smash 10
In a sitting and if I put extra in they’ll be gone by morning too
If you can find one may give you a jump start! And some cute little teeny tiny patters of feet :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
I kept being messaged asking if I have any RTB or if my female up can be bred. She’s 28g and 10 months. So No. No she cannot. She’s staying now anyway so I took her down and had a not very nice reply back about how he wanted her for breeding and wants her still, will come now etc… :upside_down_face:

Sounds like Tues and wed are definitely the better days for you.

That’s when your glad you didn’t sell her to that person. I just really want to start breeding my Cresties and I’ve waited so long! But I will see if I can find one, if not I will keep waiting. My males have been chirping a lot recently too.

I’d need to get her from somewhere reputable to know she has been well cared for
