California king x mexican black king

Cookie and pitch were given to me by a friend and are ½ California king snake and ½ Mexican black king snake. They represent the lightest of the clutch, Cookie, and the darkest of the clutch, Pitch.

When you do these crosses, does it matter which is male/female to start? Would the offspring look different? Curious…

Pretty snakes, BTW!

Unfortunately there’s not enough data accessible by myself to say how much difference it makes on which parent is which sex. I have heard that with jungles the male should be the corn because a male cal king’s hemipenes are biv enough to actually injure a female corn. Aside from that i can’t really say at this point.

I would hazard a guess that in a large percentage of hybrids, it would be better off having the female be the bigger of the species.
If the female is the smaller of the two then I can see problems popping up when it comes to laying eggs.

That’s my uneducated guess though.
