Facts
The Pitch Black line of northern blue tongue skinks is one of the most in demand of all traits for blue tongue skinks. I am approaching the production of a solid black bodied animal.
Species:
Northern blue tongue skink (Tiliqua scincoides intermedia)
Name of Gene:
Pitch Black
First produced by whom:
Diana Mason (to the best of my knowledge)
Year:
Unknown, 2015 or earlier.
Genetics Type (Incdom/Codom/Recessive/Polygenic/etc):
Polygenic
In complex with other genes?:
No
Other names/aliases for it?:
No other names for this particular line.
Description:
Animals in this line show an increased amount of melanin (black).
Appearance: What it does/looks like?
Animals in this line show more melanin than in any other line. Also the black is truly black, not dark brown as in other dark/black lines of skinks.
Proven: To what degree it is proven out to not just be polygenic?
It is polygenic.
Unique: Why do you believe this is a new morph and not an existing one?
I see that traits have only recently been added for skinks and this one just hasn’t been added yet. It is one of the newer lines of selectively bred skinks.
Related Genes:
N/A
Problems: Any problems?
N/A
Other History: Any additional history?
Not that I am aware of.
Disagreement or Controversy:
Not that I am aware of.
