Advice for a beginner

Welcome to the forum, both as a new keeper(ish) and a student. I won’t add anything as far as husbandry as it has been well covered and there are many ways to correctly keep snakes.
I might have waited before jumping in with the 2 new snakes, but that’s behind us now, just do more research. We all still learn things even after 20+ years, so keep learning.
In regards to temperament, as others have said, they are each individuals and she will need to learn to read them. When they are hungry, some are crazy, but you can tell because they get “twitchy” as I like to describe it. Some are cage defensive, but once you get them out are puppy dogs. This is stuff you learn along the way, and after keeping various kinds of snakes I’ve had a few close calls but never a full on snake. I can read them and get out of the way (or stick a mouse/rat in their mouth).
As far as feeding goes, my first snakes in the 90’s were all eating live as that was the norm. Luckily they did not mind pre-killed, but they never switched over. My 3 balls now all eat frozen except for one who makes it difficult and will go 3 weeks frozen, then just wants 1 pre-killed, then will go back to frozen. But that’s what I deal with owning snakes.
Do they love us, don’t know. Some are sweet, some are feisty, some could care less. All I know is I love all my animals equally regardless of what I get back. Most of the time it is not a lot :joy:.
But again, just the fact that you found this forum means you are willing to learn, and that’s a good thing.
