There’s also the option of washing the pink with dawn soap… Weird but I’ve heard it works! I’d say feed warmed prey of you’re trying F/T, and maybe even try the frog mini reptilinks to see if that perks it’s appetite.
Now seeing that the animal is wild caught, I’d regretfully recommend live pinks scented with lizard or frog at first, slowly swapping to F/T warmed pinks, using less and less scent once the snake takes F/T scented pinks.
At least it doesn’t waft the smell of rodent around the kitchen! Though I have heard dipping the pink in and out of boiling water has about the same effect.
I do not have fist hand experience with the species but @kabre covered most of what I would have said.
I would definitely be most inclined to downgrading to a shoebox tub and use a good bedding of fairly deep loose damp sphagnum. Something the snake can bury itself in if it does not like any of the other hides/cover you put in. I fully agree with live feeding being the best option right now. I would, however, suggest holding off on scenting for the time being. If you can get it to take unscented now it will make life easier for you later. In addition to using fresh live pinks, see if you can get your hands on some really old soiled bedding that you can use to make a “nest” out of to put the pinks in, maybe in a small condiment cup. Nestle that down in the sphagnum and place a hide over the top of it so it sort of mimics a rodent burrow. This combination can sometimes trigger hunting behaviour that is more successful than just tossing pinks in willy-nilly
Hey! Thank you sooo much for the info it really helped a lottt!! I tried the paper bag method, 5 mins later BOOOOMMMM!! I did a Live pinky mice, placed them both In a small paper bag, and boom I’m soo hyped and happy I feel so relieved now that I now he’s doing this , I’ll wait for him to sorta digest it and I’ll let em go into his little home !
Hey, I’m so glad! I don’t know what it is about the paper bag method that encourages feeding, but if it works, it works, haha. Now fingers crossed you can wean him onto f/t eventually with the help of the ol’ paper bag, but – as with human babies – fed is best.
