You are correct in the store supply being different, but wrong about the size. You can absolutely order adult mice, but depending on how knowledgeable the manager is or how strict they are on store budgets, they won’t order them.

Ohh. Sounds like my manager didn’t know that then. We were told we could only get pinkies or fuzzies (I did ask about getting a larger size). I also don’t remember reading about any other size feeder in the policy book, so I never questioned it. Our store mostly had BPs (usually 3-5 at a time) and we occasionally had 1 Cornsnake

Southern California deals with a particular wholesaler (a popular Ranch if you will) for their reptiles. It could be different for Eastern states. But even then you won’t know who the wholesale breeder may also be flipping stock from.

I did hear from employees that Petsmart cut ties with a lot of their suppliers during COVID. The old suppliers my store used for small animals and reptiles, they no longer deal with

Ooooh. I’m pretty sure my old store still works with the same rodent/bird breeders. I wish they would find a new one tho. The reptile is the same. Fish are always sent from the ‘warehouse’. So that mix could have switched up depending on what breeders changed for delivery to there.

It could be a regional supply thing? I know adult mice were on our order list so she made sure we kept it.

I haven’t kept up on the newer training materials from when the UK buyout happened so maybe that was when it changed from 'appropriate meal size’s to that.
