Baby Corn Snake Wont Eat

That’s terrific!!! So glad to hear it! It’s one of the best feelings in the world when a stubborn baby eats at last. Woo hoo!! :confetti_ball: :fireworks: :bangbang:

Olivia is right, you should replicate exactly the same process if possible, including time of day for at least the next couple of meals. Additionally, continue to avoid handling more than necessary until the snake is feeding consistently.

Meanwhile, celebrate the win!!! Congratulations!!!

Congratulations on Ghost’s first voluntary feeding!!! I have so enjoyed reading this post and all the advice from more experienced keepers. We are so lucky to have MorphMarket community. Although I knew most of these tricks, several of them were new to me, so it was an educational read. Thanks for sharing your expertise, everyone! One quick question: where do you buy things like, “lizard scent”? Not on your average Walmart shelf, I’d imagine

Nope, not at Walmart. Chewy usually carries that, as well as several similar things. If you have a locally owned pet store in your area which handles snakes, they may carry it. If you have access to actual lizards, like somebody with a gecko or something, you can use their sheds or bedding. We have invasive Mediterranean geckos all over the place. I’ve had success with their scent.

Yeah I’ve had to buy anoles in the past just for scenting pinky mice and slowly switching over snakes to live mice, then slowly from there to frozen thawed. It can take a while. Pet stores 10+ years ago last I did this used to always have anoles. Nowadays though I’m not so sure. Every PetSmart, Petco, and my local Benson’s pet shop only ever have leo’s and cresties; which of course are far more expensive. It’s definitely something to think about if you get a baby snake or want to start breeding them and have no close by source of odd live feeders in case babies don’t want to eat with all the tricks.

Good point. A lot of pet stores will let people have some bedding from their rodents or reptiles. That can work sometimes. International markets have options which can be used, if there’s one of those close.

It can take a while. I’ve not had to go from lizard to live scented pinky, it’s always been ft pinky. But yeah, it can certainly take a while. Some of them want scent for months.
