My snake is currently laying eggs ass we speak. I checked on her around 10:30am and she had 3 eggs she was wrapped around. How long does it normally take for them to finish? Im assuming she still has atleast 1 or 2 more eggs to lay but i dont want to leave them in for too long. How long should i wait before i check her and remove the eggs?
It’s okay to leave them with her for a bit longer. Some breeders will even let mom incubate them herself. I personally don’t though.
I would leave her alone for another few hours.
When you take the eggs, you will want to carefully palpate mom to make sure there aren’t any eggs left. I had a girl this season lay only 3 eggs, so it’s entirely possible that that’s all she had. But Definitely check.
Assuming she has no eggs left, you can take her out to give her a gentle soak with some dish soap. Let her sit in regular water for a few minutes in case she’s thirsty, then add the soap after. That will get rid of the egg smell on mom.
While that’s going on, also clean her enclosure and give her a fresh bedding change. She should start looking for food again in a few days.
