Sorry don’t think so…… :joy:

Wow, they have gotten very thick! Are they at the point where they’re maintaining or do they seem to be growing still?

All of the Bantams are sort of stalling where they are, though they’re growing slowly still. All but 3 of them are on a 14-day feeding schedule. The runt and the two slow starters are still eating weekly. But they’re doing great. Meanwhile the non-bantam clutchmates I have are cruising toward 300+.

Frootloop the SK weighs 101g. Sombra the Caramel Cinder, one of the slow starters, is at 77g.

HEALTH UPDATE

A few weeks ago I sent two yearling subadult high-expression female Bantams to my friend Mikelle Workman at Serpentine Works for her to bring with her to Colubridfest in Indianapolis this weekend.

One of the lecturers, Dr. Zach Whitman, DVM, performed a cursory examination of the animals and assessed their movement and body condition as healthy. His conclusion was that it’s some kind of dwarfism, and not a short-tail or short-spine condition, which was already obvious to me and the few breeders who’ve had hands-on access to them.

A representative from Rare Genetics was there and he was very impressed with them and hopes to evaluate some sheds.

As they approach adult size, x-rays will be performed.

The two that were sent. Bantam Miami-Caramel het Shatter and Bantam Miami-Caramel Cinder het SK.

Congratulations and I knew it I knew it I knew it! I had a good feeling about the Bantams because you were confident with them from the get go! Now you have confirmation!!!

I hope others here will rejoice with you! :tada::partying_face::balloon::confetti_ball::champagne:!!!

This is so cool! Can’t wait to hear more about them!

Thanks Caron! Yeah, there hasn’t been a single instance in 13 months where one of these guys gave me a scare or required special needs care, so it’s been easy to be confident.

Thanks! Even now, ECW Eric, who’s at Colubridfest, has ID’d another possible Bantam in the corns he brought to the show since seeing mine. So as I’ve posited from the start, this mutation is out there. It’s not up to me to halt or thwart its introduction to the captive gene pool. That toothpaste is already out of the tube.

I love it! I am so glad “the toothpaste is already out of the tube”! You certainly waited long enough for it to “ooze” out!!! :star_struck::star_struck::star_struck:

I’m so excited that these guys didn’t show any indication of health issues, short spine syndrome, etc; I’d love to buy one in the far future if you continue expanding on this project!!

Still trying to ID them in this year’s clutch.

Really humming and hawwing over why I don’t have corns. I have bloods, balls and a few other species and have kept rhino vipers so the thick body is very appealing to me. Are you going to continue calling them bantams? I think I’d call them snidgets. Just me though. If/when you start to release them to other ophidiophiles please shout out, I really like how they look.
