Yeah, that makes sense. (@spottedbull, I mean.) What should I do if they go on a hunger strike? And should I keep them in a escape free room so if they escape their enclosure they’re still stuck?

Also, in feeding guides, they say “than the widest part of the carapace”. What does “carapace” mean?

The shell. In chelonians it’s the back. Plastron being the chest. In spiders it would be the top of the cephalothorax. (Head/body)

Well the room is personal preference.
One day I left the top of my Lasiadora parahybana’s enclosure open just a little. And she was around 8" at the time. Raised her from a sling. I watched as she climbed out by pushing the top open, made her way about 6 feet to the open window and escaped into the wide blue yonder to live her best life.
If they won’t eat one time, remove the food and offer food awhile later. Lots of times they will let you know when they are hungry by being more visible. Slings and juvies both will tend to hide in burrows.

I was across a very long room and couldn’t get my fat butt that far that fast. Not nearly as fast as she was!
I did go outside and look around for her but we live way out in the country and she was gone into the woods by the time I got out the door, around the house and into the back yard.

Heck I know my limits. I watched from afar as she just pranced her self off the shelf, onto the window sill and paused to look out the open window. Then off she goes. I kept expecting her to at least look back and wave or something. I’d had her a long time, from a sling.
So I said, “Well, &%^$.” and went outside.
