Really really hoping to be posting new babies soon, but the eggs in the clutch who are due to pip just keep sitting there. They’re doing nothing but looking like eggs, smelling like salad. Ah well, gotta be soon!

That’s hilarious! They’re actually supposed to get either strawberry cultivars or Arthurian themed names. Strawberries are strawberry, Lavenders are Arthurian. When they cross two general patterns I just go with the one thar feels more right for that baby. But I love the salad theme idea! They’re still determined to make me wait. The shells of some are feeling very thinned out. Every time I look at their shelf (not more than 30 or 40 times today, I swear! 
) I expect to see the first pippie. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

Salads for another time then – I love the morph-based themeing and that they’re something you keep going through the generations. I actually somehow missed that till now, and it’s very, very sweet.

I’ve been super busy today, feeding the new babies and a group of adults. Plus cleaning up after others “processed” their food. 
Did a check on the rest of the eggs besides Raiden and Narcissa’s clutch which is now on Day 63 and killing me with anticipation. Here are the eggs from Galahad x Purple Wonder. It is Day 45 for this trio. They have continued to grow and have excellent veins, despite their oddly mineralized shells. There are a couple of windows on #1, smaller windows on # 2 and #3. I’m wondering if I’ll be able to see the pattern or at least the color as these babies near hatching. The brownish coloration is just staining from the sphagnum moss. Totally naturally, not a problem at all. Egg #2 had a wee bit of mold on the underside which I wiped away. It looks healthy.

I know its a calcification issue, but I always find it so endearing to see little stars on snake eggs. I’ve personally saved a few eggs after the babies hatch just because I find the stars so neat.

Raiden and Narcissa have a small second clutch. It got a bit smaller today. Egg #4 had some external moisture and the shell was looking spotty. When I tried to candle it, it was becoming somewhat opaque. I haven’t ever seen veins on this one. I took a damp cotton swab and applied gentle pair and plenty of patience until it was separated from its neighbors. When I tossed it, it broke open. It was partly solidified and smelled bad, so good decision on getting it out of there.
As it reached the point where it was almost free but a tiny bit of its shell was stretched between it and the neighboring egg, I used sterile curved scissors to snip it free. Didn’t want to damage the other eggs. You can see the tiny bit of remaining shell on the bottom of Eggs #3 and #5.
Egg # 1 doesn’t really look like it’s going to develop but it’s still in there. Incubate until there’s no debate and all.
Egg #2 had visible veins when laid. It keeps looking good.
Egg #3 didn’t have visible veins when it was laid, but it’s got them now! Got an embryo shadow, too.
Egg #5 may very well go the way of Egg #4, but it’s still incubating for now. There are some small indications of possible veins.

Allstar and Annelie’s second clutch of 11 continues to look fantastic. I forgot to take a picture of them though. 
Ill try and remedy that tomorrow. Meanwhile, here are some of their first clutch, gorgeous babies with full tummies. I might have to do what Dean said and keep one of each morph!

Me too!! I always get an extra tug on the heartstrings when there are stars on the eggs. I also love seeing those little windows.

Thought I’d do a final check before hitting the hay and there’s a nose!! It’s barely visible underneath a shriveled, failed egg, but it’s there!

It’s a happy morning because it’s a pippy morning! Everybody will at least be Strawberry het Amel, Anery, Lavender. Of course, additional traits and combos are possible. So far this morning I see one Strawberry, two Strawberry Lavenders and one who’s either a Strawberry Anery or a Strawberry Moonstone.
