I got this little guy at PetSmart around a year ago, I was wondering if someone could help identify his species/breed?
That is a Corn snake.
If you did not know the species prior to buying this animal I highly suggest you get in contact with someone who is knowledgeable in the species so you can learn proper care for the snake.
I believe @noodlehaus and @deanaii can help you here as far as IDing and basic Cornsnake care.
Definitely a corn snake, the size considering you said you bought it a year ago is concerning. Can you provide photos of their entire enclosure? What are you feeding it and how often? Temperatures? Also it appears like you may be misting, that is not necessary.
The species is corn snake and the morph is Anery (Anerythristic).
It looks pretty undersized. I’d give it a mouse15-18% of its body weight (or 1-1.5x the width of the corn at its widest) weekly until it’s on large adult mice, and then go to 10-14 days.
I would definitely be more careful on future purchases. Even though the ID/price tag at PetSmart has the most bare bones on care info, the species is clearly listed there.
Definitely a corn snake.
Perhaps this is the OPs way of asking about the morph? The thread is in the “corn snakes” category, though I realize it could have been moved here by staff.
It is hard to say with the lighting in the pics, but I think the morph is likely Caramel or Caramel-based. Aneries can have brown tones but to my eye it’s too golden-brown for Anery, especially on the ground color. Agree with others about future feedings and care questions since the original question did ask what species the snake is.
I moved it from all reptiles, to answer that bit.
Gotcha. Makes sense. Thanks.
Yup, definitely a corn snake. As for the morph, likely either anery or caramel, but the lighting in the pics is making it hard to say for sure. Can you take some pics in natural lighting? Like near a window or outside on a cloudy day?
