Hello I won this little one as a dark emptyback and can see there is little Dalmatian as well. I was wondering what you could pair with something like this? I don’t mind Dalmatians for spots more curious tho with ones without spots.
When it comes to breeding crested geckos (or most reptiles really) you need to breed for something you’re interested in, not breed just to breed. Pick a morph/trait/aspect and work on improving that.
When looking for breeding material geckos you should look at what you want to improve on, and whether a specific gecko is a good starting point vs what else is one the market. I have several geckos myself that some would probably consider non breeding material, but they have one or two “oddball” aspects that are worth looking into. This gecko does, in my opinion, not have anything that you couldn’t easily find better expressed in another gecko, and it doesn’t have anything particularly interesting about it that is worth exploring. So i wouldn’t personally breed it.
That being said, it doesn’t seem fully grown yet, so it could in theory still change.
I hope you don’t take this too harshly, my intent is only to make you properly consider WHY you’d wanna pair a specific animal and make plans for your desired outcome, rather than just breeding because you have the gecko if that makes sense ![]()
Your all good and yeah they are still young I’m getting into breeding currently so was just looking for some opinions on what people thought of him for things cause I thought as well wasn’t worth it for this one. But thought I would see and it was originally for a tricolor project for someone I just happened to end up with the little one.
For a dark empty back also looks to be pinstripe as well these are my ideas but it really depends on what kind of geckos you like.
-
Empty back dark pinstripe. (Depending on age for all) $150-$350. This combo would probaly create baby geckos worth $150-$400. Posssible outcomes super emptybacks, really nice pinstripes and beautiful darks
-
Soft scale pinstripe emptyback $180-$400. This could create some soft scales pretty darks and some super empty backs. Price for baby geckos $180-$450.
-
Super soft scale pinstripe $190-$500. This is one that I would personally do %50 softscales and beautiful pinstripes. Prices for babys $190-$500.
-
Lilly white. $190-$700. This is my second favorite. I would recommend getting a bit of a nicer one maybe with some white wall because your gecko isnt very high white so a bit of a nicer lilly could be insane. Baby geckos $190-$700

(Super) soft scale lilly white empty back. $200-$1,000 By far my favorite option could be a little pricy but with potential for a soft scale lilly white super empty back with some contrast from the dark is an incredible idea. The babys could be any where between $190-1,100. Amazing combo
I hope this was helpful but try to keep a specific plan in mind if your not planning on using these recommendations I would avoid very diffrent geckos that dont share a gene or dont carry something that would elavate the genes your gecko has (lilly white is a an amazing example because lillys go well with almost everything) avoid low quality harlys or animals with bad structure. Getting a cheap gecko will clash with your beautiful one. Hope this helps.
