Different morphs or just an oketee?

I think he might be an oketee mixed with root beer possibly? But after it shed it got a slightly yellow color as well.

Looks like a pretty little Classic with a nifty aberrant pattern. The best way to get pics which show colors correctly is to use natural light on a cloudy day. We’d be happy to see more pics of your pretty baby if you like, but I’m confident with the pics you’ve sent.

The brown tones are totally usual with babies. That doesn’t necessarily indicate root beer (a hybrid) or any other morph. Youngsters typically have less contrast in their coloring. Their red and yellow tones fill in more and more as they grow. Your little one will look quite different as an adult compared to hatchling pics.

What’s it’s name, btw?

I agree with Caryl, nice aberrant patterning! Okeetee can be a bit subjective, as it relates to the thickness of the borders. I think yours might just barely qualify as an okeetee because the borders look decently thick. But once it grows a bit and the color fills in, it will be easier to tell how thick the borders are.

I’m pretty sure it’s a male because of how long it’s tail is but I named him Khaos. He can be a bit crazy when he’s being handled hence his name :joy:

Would you happen to know what morph he might be then if not oketee? Or is it too early to tell?

If he’s not an okeetee, then he’s a normal with aberrant patterning. Okeetees genetically are normals, but they’ve been line bred for the thick borders.

Hard to say in the lighting. Olivia correctly says that Oketee is used a bit subjectively as a description. It can refer to locality-specific animals descended from WC animals from the Oketee Hunt Club region. It can also refer to snakes with distinctive black borders and high contrast red and orange tones as adults. It’s hard to look at young ones and predict what their adult coloration will be; it takes looking at lots and lots and lots of snakes and pics.

When Khaos grows up, he looks to me like he is going to fall into that category of Oketee-look. I love watching them grow and change.

Awesome. Thanks for the info on him. I was so curious if he had a few different morphs from his pattern and this all helped.
