Do baby falsies not like water? I have a little pond for him but he never goes in it, he just buries himself underground. Is that normal or should I be doing something different? I got him cause I wanted a water type snake but it’s sad he doesn’t care about it.
Also, is there a good feeding interval to get a male to grow bigger, or anything I should do to encourage more growth?
How is his enclosure set up? Temps, hides and so on… Photos may be best to see why maybe he’s uncomfortable.
They are a higher metabolism snake, but even so, I wouldn’t powerfeed. There haven’t been nearly enough studies in reptiles, but most other animals can have health issues when powerfed. Typically bone, joint or heart health can suffer the most.
As a baby, you can easily feed every 4-5 days. As he gets older though lean back to once a week.
They’re semi-aquatic, but not every one will swim regularly. Especially if he’s new and nervous. If you haven’t tried already, maybe put some plants in the water. Something he can rest half on or hide in if needed.
