When I got my Crested Gecko the breeder said he was on Pangea Growth and Breeding, so I’ve kept him on that. I also bought dried crickets. Will that make a good mixed diet? I plan to feed the Pangea 4x a week and the dried crickets 3. Does that sound right? Thanks for your help!
Hey,
So pangea is every other day, and crickets 2/3 times a week.
I would also try other flavours of Pangea as the growth and breeder isn’t as nice flavour wise for them. Mine won’t actually eat it unless mixed with flavoured. Fig and insect is always a hit!
Live crickets are best, dried aren’t as good for them.
Bulk feed the live crickets
how do you get your’s to eat crickets? mine won’t take them. I want to feed him crickets but he just isn’t interested in them. thanks
I won’t use dried insects as don’t know what they were fed as to whether they are nutritious enough.
I’ve noticed a few of my babies were too nervous to eat crickets or locusts.
So I fed them wax worms (treat only) & Dubia roaches to start with. I found they were more nervous of the tong than the actual insects so I put them in a tealight glass (similar to shot glass). I also crush up live insects and put it in the cgd.
I also had a super fussy girl that previous owner didn’t feed her insects (bought her as an adult). This approach worked for her too… Although it took about a year of perseverance as she was so use to just cgd
I definitely recommend mixing different flavours of cgd together or switching it up to keep gecko happy
My crested turns his nose up at crickets too! Lol!
So you have tried live?
I also put them in the viv and leave them be, some don’t want to tong feed.
Can try small locust, Dubia, red runners etc also.
Was worms are only treat food. If not eating live don’t try them as they’re addictive to cresties.
yeah I have tried live. I am thinking about maybe putting him in a smaller container when I try so he can get them easier. Do you think this might work?
Moving a crestie when feeding will only stress him out
Ok thanks!
Maybe try crushing up insects and putting in the cgd food so they get a taste of it?
Good idea I will try that
