Gecko morphology identification - Tornado x Blacknight

I ended up buying this beautiful 2-year-old male. The previous owner said it was a Tornado x Blacknight cross, but I have my doubts regarding its morphology.

So a couple of questions
Do you know if the previous owner bought him from a breeder?
How long have you had him?
Is this the same color he was with the previous owner in photos or in person?

Answering your questions.

He bought it from someone else. I’ve had it for a few months. Its color changes a bit; it was darker when it was younger. Depending on the weather, the color also changes a lot, getting much darker.

Okay.

So it’s entirely possible that your gecko is from Tornado and Black Night lines.

The genes don’t pass down like a recessive or inc/dom. You won’t be able to find another tornado x Blk night and have a tornado Blk night.

Tornado is the Urban Gecko line of tangerine. It’s a polygenic trait. That means that you need to find an animal with the traits you want and breed them with another like it and choose the best looking baby then repeat. Linebreeding is very common which is mother to son and such to make better offspring.

Black night is also polygenic. So same concept. Darkest gecko to darkest gecko, select the darkest offspring. In this case it took over 15 years to do it.

There’s two more polygenic traits going on with your gecko as well. He is a super hypo and baldy
Super hypo is less than 5 black spots on the body and baldie is no spots on the head.

So for your gecko I would ID them as a
Super hypo tangerine baldy from tornado and black night lines.
