So. My girl Kimball had what I had presumed to be her prelay shed on May 14th, and following the timeline from shed to seeing eggs, my understanding was that she should have been due to lay anywhere between the 13th and today. Looking at her, she is without the shadow of a doubt gravid, and showing signs that the eggs have moved down, but I’m a bit worried that we’re now sitting on day 45. How long have you guys had females go before finally dropping? Should I be concerned at this point, or do they sometimes go over that 45 day window?
She is still alert (though obviously seems a bit uncomfy with how large she’s gotten) and otherwise isn’t showing any concerning behaviors. At what point would it be time to look into a vet visit?

I had one go 51 days. The typical post ovy to lay date is 45-50. So you have a couple days in that ‘safe’ window.
I’ve never had to really worry since they all came within that window. I try not to think of it as an exact day. I try to mark it as a week so I don’t hype up about a certain day
That’s definitely more reassuring to hear. Everything I read was saying after 30 days, so I marked a 2 week window in my calender for when I thought she was supposed to lay. I’ll stop hovering so much for the rest of the week now that I know that’s not unusual lol. Thank you so much for the info!
I’m surprised about when I found my girl Nobara with eggs over a week early. It’s definitely not set in stone for 30 days, I’m definitely past 30 days for my other expecting girl Mango. I wouldn’t be surprised if she has eggs when I get home from our 12 hour drive back from our vacation.

51 days was my post OVY. Not shed. But that gal shed really early after ovy too. So if you don’t have an approximate ovy date the shed date isn’t always reliable. Some will shed after ovy. Some will shed 2x before laying. It’s frustrating with some gals. XD;
But yeah. You still have a couple days before worrying too much.
@cmsreptiles Nobara is just an overachiever lol. I remember seeing you post that thread and hoping I got that lucky, but alas my girl is gonna make me wait the whole thing out it seems.
@sugarhillballpythons We’re on day 46 post-shed now, so hopefully that means eggs are in my very near future!
@armiyana Sadly I didn’t catch her exact ovi date, so I have been going based off the shed. In hindsight it does make sense that it’s not the most reliable of indicators lol.
