This snake was born in a clutch with 2 white snakes. The pairing was citrus pastel x calico pastel. I can not figure this one out. Please any help would be appreciated.
Wellll obviously there is something going on because your pairing shouldn’t have those 3 very light/white snakes… so was there any additional pairings? Also your female and male must carry a BEL gene each… I can’t tell if they are black eye or blue eye from the photo.
Huh, that’s tough! That one baby on the bottom really looks like a fire calico, and those two white snakes could be super fires? Perhaps you have a dirty firefly (the dark hatchling) and a super pastel fire calico? Here’s a fire calico het ghost (hence the ringer) I hatched a couple of years ago for comparison:
I was thinking they could both be yellowbelly. Even though neither parents were labled that and came from different sources. I went back into my photos and I do remember the one time I had a super vanilla lock with that same pastel calico. This is 100 percent all the hooked up with this virgin female
This could possibly explain the fire looking calico. But it wouldn’t explain the white snakes. Unless the person that sold me the super vanilla lied and it was a fire
Can you please take belly photos of the dirty pastel and the calico combo? Calico yellowbellies look different than calico fires, I’m still leaning towards fire. You got a super pastel combo in the clutch so I don’t think the vanilla got her.
You’re right, there’s definitely yellowbelly involved! That last picture of the calico yellowbelly seals the deal.
Thank you Vanessa!
Do you think that dirty pastel looks like just a dirty pastel yellowbelly? I just don’t think I’ve ever seen a pastel Yellowbelly look this strange
It’s certainly a weird one. It could be a dirty pastel yellowbelly but it is unusually dark. The super pastel calico (yellowbelly?) also looks darker than normal. It’s possible your calico female is hiding something else, but I honestly have no idea what. Without future breedings it’s hard to be sure. I will admit you had me researching cinnamon/black pastel combos but I don’t think that’s it, that pastel isn’t a pewter but that super pastel calico yellowbelly doesn’t look typical either.
But I have also never see one as a hatchling either
Thank you so much for the help !
