Hi, my name is jameycoats, and I’m currently in Arkansas I use to have a fear of snakes but now I don’t since we’ve gotten a pet ball python. Which is why I’m here I need y’all’s help. The ball python we have is a 6 month old female named buttercup, we were told that she was a Mojave ball python but I’m not really sure as I’ve done a little research and she doesn’t look completely like one or maybe it’s just me as I don’t know that much about the different types and plus what we paid for her is a whole lot less than what they say they can go for, can you guys help?
You looked up Mojave’s ball python morphs and she matched some but not all? What about clown? Do you think she matches any of those too? I’m a rookie too trying to figure out the same with mine
She looks like a Pastave, which is a Pastel Mojave.
Yeah definitely Mojave
I haven’t looked at clowns, all I know is she has a docile temper and is real gentle and hasn’t ever tried to bite, and what I was told about her being a mojave.
Thanks for your input
When trying to get help with identification it is best to try and get the clearest full body shots of the animal in natural light. It makes it easier for the people trying to help. With that being said, no clown and it is either a mojave or pastel mojave, but it hard to tell with the pics provided.
that helped. mojave.
Thank you, we couldn’t really tell and I didn’t just want to rely on what we were told by the person we got her from
As a side note… Going forward in this hobby, if you do not believe you can trust the person you are buying from to properly ID the snake then you might not want to buy from them at all. Quality breeders might have animals that cost a bit more, but you can be guaranteed to know what you are getting
I think it was were we had bought her from a pet store, I’m glad we got her out of that environment she’s doing a whole lot better
t_h_wyman is right, you will get a much better quality animal from a reputable breeder than you ever will from a pet store. And although they will be more expensive, most breeders will do short term payment plans on pretty much anything over $200. I hope this helps.
