I recently bought two young female Western(plains) Hognose snakes to pair up with my male eventually. and was wondering if brumation was really necessary for the species or if it could be skipped and be just as successful? do any of you use different methods for brumating your own snakes? I read somewhere that someone instead of completely cooling their snakes. they reduced the duration of light their snakes were given along with turning down their temperatures and feeding less often and had a successful clutch and was wondering if that was a viable option.
