Is the mode of inheritance for pied still unknown?

Non-Hypo Tessera Pied for comparison. Sister to the Hypo Tessera Pied.

They are absolutely beautiful! Also at what age do bloodreds stop changing in colour or does it continue throughout their whole life? Thanks for all of the help BTW!

I might also try to put tessera into it eventually like you have. This year i hatched out a Amel tessera het caramel, diffused and pos motley and hypo. Not sure if it would be that good though since its not even a visual diffused so ill probably need to buy another male eventually.

My oldest Pied is 8 years old this year and hasn’t really changed much the past couple. I have this year noticed my older Tessera Pied gaining a few white spots. I think the colour of Bloodreds is richest at around 5 years old and darkens thereafter. I like the proper old skool dark Bloodreds, don’t see too many anymore…

Yeah I like them a lot aswell. Most “bloodreds” in the UK are not that nice red colour too so it can be quite hard to find good quality ones for breeding. My fire pied has just turned 2 aswell as the male they both turned 2 in june.

I don’t work with with pied myself, though I certainly admire beautiful examples. I just had to chip in to say that there are some gorgeous ones in your collection, @reddot_reptiles !! Your female looks like a great beginning to your project, @shadowspiderjack . I look forward to seeing what you produce someday.

It is a passion project, to be sure - hard work, long term plans and dreams, happiness and fun and frustration and sometimes sorrow, years of it all. For those who truly love it, there is nothing in the world like the deeply satisfying thrill of holding in your hands the living payoff who makes it all worthwhile.

Im looking forward to starting this project next year! The 2 females I have and the male should make for a good start. Hopefully after a few generation mine start to look as good as @reddot_reptiles!

That’s awesome! I watched that male most of last season but just don’t need another male right now. Very cool, great addition…
