Missed the last question, but I can’t personally say, because I don’t handle my retics very frequently! However, I used to take my eastern indigo out nearly every day when he was a hatchling to around 2 years old, and he was excellent, tame and scooting around calmly, and easy to carry around. I always took him out for show and tell when I had guests! He was very trustworthy and never seemed stressed by the daily handling. Ironically, gets a bit stressed now due to infrequent handling.
That’s really helpful! I was really wanting a YTC because just look at them - they’re beautiful!! I’m hoping with enough work I could get one to calm down… But now I’m really thinking about the indigo
Also hoping the poop isn’t actually as big a deal as people make it sound since I let them out in the house…
Btw my Argentine boa would like to apply to be in the big brain club. I swear she’s a genius hahaha
Oh the poo absolutely isn’t a big deal at all… I’ve had a few species of rat snakes too, and the drymarchon poo is completely proportionate to their size compared to rat snakes imo. I have no idea where that saying came from LOL.
I’ve seen some calm yellowtails kept by other people! At the end of the day, it just depends on the individual snake.
That’s good to know about your argentine boa!! I actually just got my first boa ever (never kept them for some reason), and was legitimately a little concerned that he would be too simplistic haha- hopefully he turns out like yours!
You are so lucky , did you hook train her ?
Yes, she’s very well hook trained! Just a couple pets and she knows there’s no food LOL
She’s really gorgeous in all of her iterations! I love seeing progression type logs. It’s very cool to see how they change with time.
Maybe it’s Clint’s poopity poo song
if you’ve seen that video lol
Hahaha I think she’s an anomaly… I didn’t hook train her at all, she can tell whether it’s me or whether it’s time to demolish food. My boyfriend says she uses sarcasm and can do our taxes ![]()
But my other boa (BCI) has exactly 2 brain cells, one for eating, the other for sitting around, and her thoughts consist of elevator music hahhaha. What kind of boa did you get?
I haven’t seen it but I believe it ahaha
Your boa can get her phd in snakes. I always wondered if intelligence can be linebred, but not enough people are interested in testing it. I know temperament is for sure! Maybe you can start the smart boa linebreeding project LMAO
I just got a lil boa imperator 2 weeks ago! Only 106g in weight. So far, the behavior and movement just reminds me of a ball python (but longer/skinnier) LOL granted he’s just a baby.
