Funny pic! Probably he’s doing it cause he is in shed, like you said. Just to be safe check, your temps. And if he has mites, mine have never soaked for really long extended periods of time.
Her temps are good and I’m positive she has no mites, but she just started shedding today. I watched her slither back into her water bowl a few minutes ago, seems like she’ll keep doing it until she sheds fully, considering its a new bowl for her (her older one was too small, so I had to get her a bigger one)
What exactly are her temps and humidity? My BP has never soaked like this even when shedding.
She is also a spider, right? I would also like to know what @ashleyraeanne said as this is a very concerning position to hold and sleep in.
her temps are always in the 80-90 degree range, and her humidity is usually 50-70%.
yeah, shes just a spider. she sometimes flips her head upside down when in my hands, then tries to slither upside down, but she figures out that she cant and flips over pretty soon after, i dont know if thats normal for a spider or not? other than that she doesnt do anything else concerning.
So with spiders it seems like the consensus is they do better at slightly lower temperatures to help lesson the severity of their wobble. All spiders have it, just to different degrees, and most do eat great, breed great, and live just as any other bp does. Just thought I’d throw that out there.
@dinofreak0611 this a great thing to know! Thank you @banereptiles
As others have said I’ve NEVER had a bp soak I’ve had some a holes who with slither through just to spill all the water over the edges without even drinking any but never soaked i have one who’s favorite hide is a hollow space under her bowl
Ok so update, she did stop soaking after she shed, and she’s doing fine (I’ve lowered her temps a bit as recommended also!) the reason my reply glitched btw is because my iPad is old and annoyingly phantom tappy))
