New addition.. Maybe? šŸ¦Ž

So this lil one was a new addition… until we got it and realised it has spots, mostly red but black too… which from pics from the breeder you couldn’t see any, possibly 1 but looked like mud… This is why adds should have all traits in them  She’s said she’d update all others… As the pics weren’t great and was always fired you couldn’t see any spots at all.
So it’s a bloody shame. But the coverage is insane. So we’ve been going back and forward for ages trying to work out if we should keep or not… Was also born September 2021 so very small for age too.

He/she is an extreme tricolour with lots of high coverage. Shame about the spots though

OMG without the spot that gecko would be insane! If it was me, I’d honestly keep the gecko until gets bigger, if more spots appear then move on, if not then work out who you could put her too in order to try to make one without the spot.

Just a suggestion

The male would be Haise I think if paired. (And if stays female)

It’s a hard decision I will say

As coverage is what we want but the spots aren’t… need her to get to a good size too as she’s very small for age…

Hopefully he/she will have a growth spurt soon :crossed_fingers:

Well, she’s a pretty little thing for sure. I don’t know enough about how geckos’ traits may interact to have an intelligent gecko-based thought on whether to hold onto this one and hope to breed out the unwanted Dal spots. I would be very frustrated about having bought one with a trait I didn’t want because of an unclear ad.

For me? Time and space are define considerations in deciding who to keep or add. There is: A. a list of traits I am excited to work with and actively seek; B. a list of traits I specifically don’t want to work with. Then there’s: C. the big swath of traits which are neither. I don’t pass on an animal who’s got them but they’re not part of my projects per se. If the spots fall into category C, I’d grow the animal for a while and consider while she grows. But I personally wouldn’t keep her if they fall in category B. There’s just not enough of me to go around.

But that’s my calculus for my collection. Yours may be totally different, which is of course perfectly fine.

I like this thinking

Trouble is, it’s hard to say goodbye & when you’ve got all excited to get the gecko just to find out it’s got that trait u really don’t want, it’s very disappointing!

It’s so hard as u feel disappointed, but at the same time, the gecko is awesome

I don’t keep NC gecko’s, but as this one is adorable and to me a single gecko takes pretty low amount of space compared to the large boas and pythons I work with, my instinct is ā€œwhat’s one gecko extra?ā€ Lol, even if I didn’t breed them, I like em. Sometimes that’s enough, too. (Hence why I have a Leo Gecko just for fun lol)

@ghoulishcresties beautiful! So im new obviously and just curious, what is the reason for not wanting dalmatian spots? Is it just a preference thing or does that trait affect something? Im only curious as I just bought 19 dalmatians from a breeder on MM that was moving.

So with other traits it’s not desirable to some.

If she was just an extreme tricolour she would’ve been Amazing!! But with spots then I’d of had to work out and it would’ve taken many gens and even then still a risk of popping up.

Just dals are fine! What you want really
