Not the most auspicious start: TWO problem girls

Yay! So glad that things seem to be progressing well, albeit slowly, with Dazzler, and that’s great news that there’s been a small amount of progress with Aria!

I can’t even imagine how stressful it must be to now be worried about two of your mammas. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for them both, and for you to have smooth sailing for the rest of your laying season!

Thanks, @noodlehaus, @solarserpents, @banereptiles , @jawramik!! And everybody else who’s reading and wishing us well!

Aria’s evening soak was uneventful. No further movement, but neither did she seem any worse. She was lounging outside her nest box again.

This is just what I’m hoping we’ll happen! Thanks for sharing your experience. It is encouraging!

Just did a final check on Dazzler. She refused a drink this time. I was gonna try offering a fuzzy but she didn’t want to be bothered. She ended up laying three during the day, so five eggs today, with another seeming imminent. Feels like she still has 10 or 11 to go even now, poor girl. I had a long labor with my youngest daughter but goodness, I’m glad it didn’t go on for days and days! I hope she’s dozing between bouts. Tomorrow I’ll try again to offer a snack.

Morning update: Aria has had another tiny bit of movement in the higher eggs. She objected to her soak. I don’t know what that means. I’m hoping it means that progress is happening which I can’t yet see.

Dazzler laid only one more egg overnight. She’s got another nearly out. She is still in business mode but I can tell she’s tired. I can’t blame her! After the current almost-laid egg is laid, I’ll try offering a snack.

So, continued incremental progress.

We love progress, even if it’s tiny! Can only hope the higher eggs moving and the objections are due to her body trying to restart the laying process. Fingers crossed things continue to move with both girls, and that Dazzler takes a meal to up her energy to finish.

No change with Aria. Dazzler did take the hopper I offered. She was quite enthusiastic about it, actually. A couple of hours later she laid one more egg. Hopefully the energy boost will help her finish. Feels like she may be down to 8. Ish. She’s going noticeably blue. Hoping she wraps it up soon, without complication other than just being slow.

Steady as she goes. As long as nobody is going backwards, it’s a net positive. Interest in food is a good thing, hopefully the energy/muscular contractions of digestion will help her get to the finish line!

Morning update brings no change with Aria. Dazzler continues inching along. She produced two more eggs overnight, one of normal size & one tiny. They’ve got little connective “tails.” I found them separated but I suspect that they were together at some point.

Dazzler’s still has a bunch to go and there was nothing near the vent. I put her in the bathtub to try and stimulate things. She was chill for about five minutes, then became quite agitated. When she didn’t want to settle I put her back in her bin. And now we wait. Again.

This is going to be my working motto!

It’s what I’ve had to go by many times, it’ll help save your sanity in the long run!

I’m sorry to hear there’s no change with Aria. Perhaps Dazzler is preparing to take another break to digest and shed, before getting out the rest? Snakes are amazing, in some ways they’re less fragile than we think (and in others, more, go figure). With plenty of patience and encouragement, I think you can get Dazzler through this without vet intervention. Fingers crossed that Aria will get the memo, too.

I’m thinking that tincture of time may be the thing for Dazzler. Hopeful that she’ll manage here at home with continued support. Aria, well, we’ll see. She’s still holding onto even that aspirated egg right by her vent. I’m still thinking she’s going to end up with surgery but maybe things will move once she’s shed.

As long as the time is available and your girls are coping well, take as much of it as you can! It’s so hard to just sit on your hands when you want them feeling better as soon as possible, but sometimes the less invasive, the better. All the massages, vibration therapy, swims, what have you.

I’m so about non-invasive if feasible.

Aria shed this afternoon. She needed only a little help for the final few inches. There’s still no movement of any eggs though. Tomorrow’s the day, hopefully. If nothing moves tomorrow she’s headed back to the vet.

Dazzler hasn’t done anything further, except get deeper in blue.

Sorry this is short. Not much to report.

Sorry to hear not much has happened, hopefully the vet can give more guidance when Aria sees them. Sending all the healing & progress wishes to you and your girls.

No eggs overnight, but Dazzler’s have progressed. She looked like she was about to lay one this morning, so the eggs have shifted further down her tract. I closed her bin and left her to it.
Edit: just peeked at Dazzler. She got one more egg out and another close. :confetti_ball:

Aria is currently swimming in the bathtub. She’s not laying, but she did pass waste. Not what I was majorly hoping for, but still good lol. . Still pretty sure she’s going to need veterinary help. At least she’s still seems strong.

I swear, my bath tub has never been so clean. I am scrubbing it repeatedly morning and night for these two girls. Which I’m about to go do again. :bathtub:

So glad to hear Ms. Dazzler was just taking a break again! Slow and steady wins the race, it seems, for her. Still cheering her on over here.

Well at least her digestion is still going strong. Hopefully the vet has a good plan moving forward. Strength is good, with that strength she can make it through all of this mess.

Tub will be great for a proper human relaxation bath, too, as clean as it is!

Seems like dazzler should be able to lay all her eggs, just a bit slower then normal. Are her eggs good or are they small slugs or questionable eggs in general? That’s good news that aria passed some waste, maybe she will now have some room to pass some eggs🤔Either way it shows she is still strong and healthy enough to try to do the normal things all animals do! Very encouraging, hopefully only good news from here on.

Yes, Dazzler is keeping me from going crazy at the moment. Aria is… not. I’m thankful that she passed something, though nothing else is moving at all. I’m sure because I again marked the position of eggs with a Sharpie. Left a message with the vet. The nine eggs Aria laid at the beginning of this odyssey look fantastic.

Great idea! I got some wonderful bath salts and soap for Mother’s Day.

Eh, there’s a mix. Many of Dazzler’s eggs seem good, with visible veins. A few appear to be slugs, though I’m putting all of them in to incubate initially. Some are just iffy. They’re not calcified as I’d wish, yet showing something inside. The sizes vary. She’s laid 18 so far, and at least 10 look decent. I’m very thankful that she’s continuing.

Thanks. I’m still quite concerned about Aria. Praying that things will proceed. At least, as you say, she seems strong.

Yeah YOU need a turn soaking in the bath, with all this going on.
Prayers for Aria!

Thank you thank you thank you! I’m quite thrilled. The newest little family member is Aurora Thiên Thu (with a accent mark my phone doesn’t have) Ulrich. She’s an adorable little dumpling.

You’re not kidding! Thanks for the prayers for Aria. Things here have been pretty chaotic. There’s apparently some issue with the surgeon who was going to do her endoscopy. I don’t understand what’s happening, but somehow since last week when I went to his office, got an evaluation and meds for Aria he’s gone. I was told by “he no longer works here.” What the freaking heck??? I was given another number for him which doesn’t work.

The vet I usually take the snakes to who’d seen Aria first and referred me is trying to get in touch with the surgeon to see if he can do the surgery at her clinic. I am super confused and frustrated. I don’t live in an area with many exotic vets so options are limited. (The vet I go to with them is about 1.5 hrs each way. ) Last night I offered Aria a fuzzy which she ate in records time. Hoping that this may help things in her tract move. I was waiting because I thought she was going to have surgery today. I don’t know what else to do.

Dazzler is very blue, and continuing to work on expelling eggs. She produced one earlier, bringing her total to 21. There are three more, I believe. One is close. Thank God she’s doing so well. Slow progress is still progress

And I’ve got something pretty messed up in my right foot. Going to have some injections in it tomorrow, then will be largely laid up for a couple days. So I made sure everybody was fed and cleaned today (Thursday & Friday are more usual days for snake chores here). I’ll be keeping up with the laying/not laying females of course.
And that’s all I know!
