Okay everyone, I’ve got 1.0 banana leopard, 1.0 cinnamon champagne, .1 Mojave, and .1 super pastel pinstripe fire.
I’m excited to expand and grow the business, and I really dig recessives, but otherwise have no real particular affinity/aversion, just want to make the highest quality animals I can. I think I would like to get an acid or two, and possibly get into sunset.
What morphs would you all recommend adding to my current breeding program?? Thanks everyone!!
Probably my favorite morph right now is Trojan, so you know I’m gonna throw that out there. I would really like to see what it does in Banana but I don’t work with that morph.
If you really want to go super dark I think Black Head is a must-have also.
And like you said, working with recessives is really rewarding although it takes a ton more complicated planning and patience to make it happen. Tons of really interesting recessive combos to get into.
Overall I’d say check out a ton of stuff and pick what you like and want to expand on, and try your best to focus on just a couple general paths as you get into it. (e.g. I really want to see that Trojan Banana, but it would mean I have to take from my planned projects and wouldn’t be able to handle the extra load)
Well for sure pick some genes that go with the ones you have. It depends on what you like but I would get maybe a ghi, it goes extremely well with Mojave for instance. Maybe some hypo stuff, just cause I have alway liked hypo in champagne and in cinnamon! With the banana leopard of course you could get some clown to eventually get some visuals, everyone likes leopard clowns! I would do something less done though, I really like the look of leopard and red axanthic. I think Cory woods has or had a few cool ones! They kinda reminded me of a monsoon, the pattern was that crazy! But that’s just me, you would probably be better off with clown. The pin fire super pastel would go great with a lot of stuff, Mojave, trick, vanilla. Good thing with that one is you know any baby will have pastel!
I actually sold a snake to a guy working in Trojan! Might have to look into that gene. Black Head sounds awesome too. Those are some pretty, dark snakes. I do really like albinos and pieds too so that could be fun to get some visuals to add into the mix! Thanks for advice too… staying narrow in focus is so tough but I totally see why that is a great idea!!
Awesome thank you! GHI has definitely been enticing and clown seems to be super popular right now! Does go great with leopard. I haven’t thought much on hypo but I’ll check out how it goes with those two genes too! Red axanthic would be an awesome project to add, too. And a bit more affordable than monsoon! Those are rad but super expensive. There seems to be a market for acid in the US, too. Really appreciate the advice!
