I’ve done some research on pastels/black pastels. But I can’t find anything conclusive on whether or not a black pastel × pastel would result in deformities in any hatchlings. My go to assumption is that it would but I’m hoping for some clarification. I do plan to breed my girl Lady (Pewter Mojave DH Clown Albino) and I would like to be absolutely certain that there won’t be any issues that I can avoid with future clutches. Barring the possibility of deformities occuring on their own, possible malfunctions with the incubator, etc. Any advice on what to go for concerning a male is also more than welcome. I love the high orange and yellow morphs. I’d like to bring out the recessives she has and tie in enchi because of how it deepens the colors on albinos and possibly candy. Candinos are absolutely gorgeous imo. I’m also heavily considering zebra morph for a possibility as well because I love the unique striping pattern it has.
Thanks for reading my rant in the meantime.

So… Black pastel and pastel are two different genes. A Pewter usually does not result in deformities unless there is something else going on.
Black Pastel is part of the 8ball complex. Super Blk pastel or blk pastel and cinnamon can result in kinked hatchlings or facial deformities. Enchi however is allelic/part of the 8ball complex and will not cause deformities when combined with cinny or blk pastel. I would recommend looking into an enchi because it can also help the colors on mojaves pop really nicely.
That said…
You are risking a different type of issue with that female. BEL Albino (white demon) can end up with microphthalmia/bead eye/small eyes. This can even happen sometimes with single BEL gene animals like mojave or lesser albinos. And also happens with BEL pieds as well. I haven’t seen anything to support this occurring in BEL clowns.

@armiyana I’ve seen the acronym BEL a few times in conjunction with eye abnormalities. I wasn’t aware it related to the blue eyed leucistic family (I’m still learning some of the acronyms). Lady doesn’t appear to have any abnormalities, but I’ll keep that in mind with breeding her.

Oh no, I don’t mean to say that your het albino would have an issue. But when you have a visual albino or pied is the issue. Here’s a couple of photos I found. Mojave is less likely to have an issue with albino as a single gene. Just make sure your male isn’t also carrying a BEL gene to reduce the risk of the small eyes.

Oh! Okay, I’ll do some more research into which genes are considered part of the BEL grouping. I wasn’t aware that could be an issue with those morphs interacting. Good thing I’m not planning on breeding for her for a while. I definitely have more reading to do ![ ](https://community.morphmarket.com/images/emoji/twitter/sweat_smile.png?v=12)
