Hello dear community,
my name is Dennis I’m from Germany and I’m new here. I hope it’s okay and I’m not doing anything wrong if I ask a question right away.
I have bought my first Ball Python.
I bought it as a Special Pied (pos Yellow Belly, pos GeneX, 66% het Desert Ghost). Father was a Special Pied. Mother was a Yellow Belly GeneX het Piebald het Desert Ghost.
Can anyone tell me what it most likely is?
Piebald is not to be overlooked, but Special, Yellow Belly, GeneX or a mixture?
I hope someone here can help me?
Many thanks in advance for your answers
Unfortunately there’s not much to go on when the animal is high white. I have a similar issue with a girl who only has a spot on her head that could also have 3 extra genes.
The color is what I would expect in a special pied.
My best advice is to look into having her shed tested for yellow belly and het DG. You can also have her checked for special too if you want to be 100% sure
Unfortunately, you’re already at a disadvantage on the het DG. It looks like the breeder gave you the wrong % number because if only one parent was het DG you have a 50% DG. That means you can’t tell if the snake is carrying the het, only that 1/2 of the offspring have it and the other won’t.
66% means that both parents were het DG.
Gene X is being worked on for testing, but is not available yet to my knowledge.
