Thank you all for the nice words  ! I bow got the enclosure and set it up but I might change it in the next 13 days as im not 100% happy with how it turned out because I think she might need more vertical enrichment.

Today is the day that my new snake will arrive at my place and im as hyped as could be but im still looking for an name so if anyone‘s got an idea let me know. Shes a female and id like the name to refer to the iconic horn of the species bit i couldn’t find any name that I like.

She’s beautiful, congratulations! I love rhino rats, they’re so unique and beautiful. I think think you made a great choice.

Sorry to hear she’s already tagged you, but she should calm down once she’s had a chance to settle in to her new home and you’re able to start really working with her on socialization.

Thank you so much! The bite really wasn’t that bad it was just itchy and didn’t even hurt but it‘ll be different once she grows up so I‘ll definitely start trying to socialize her once she has calmed down.

Oh and i also have a problem with stained glass because the water in my area is pretty hard so it‘d be nice to hear if anyone got an idea on how to solve that

Use distilled water. It won’t leave spots when it evaporates.

Thank you, I really needed this information

wait, she always drinks the water that I spray the enclosure with and almost never the water in her bowl. Wouldn’t that be a problem with distilled water because she wouldn’t get the minerals she needs from drinking it?

I think this is one of those “you can’t have your cake and eat it too” scenarios. Distilled water would definitely not leave any residue after evaporation, but you’re right, it has no trace minerals that are advantageous to probably all living things. The question is, would a snake that eats whole prey need the extra minerals from non-distilled water? What are you feeding her?

You could use non-distilled water (though it still needs to be dechlorinated) in her water bowl and distilled water to spray. That way she’d still be drinking some water with the good minerals, but you wouldn’t get spots on the glass when you spray.

I would use bottled water for spraying. It still has all the stuff that is needed but is usually will have less so it won’t leave as many water stains

I got some frozen pinkies that i plan on feeding her with and some fish from my hognose that I will use to create variety in her meals once she is big enough to try them. I will also dust her meals in some calcium powder. But even then I think that it wouldn’t hurt her to get some extra minerals through the water and I think i‘ll try spraying her enclosure with distilled water and filling her bowl with either tap- or dechlorinated water.
Thank you all for the solutions btw
