Reptile Morph Art Series

This week has been an absolute nightmare - but I was able to get a Torvosaurus done, both with a scarred and non-scarred version for some texture practice

Based on this gorgeous super GHI DH het sunset BP

Simply lovely. I’m sorry that you’ve had a nightmare week. I am glad that you were able to work out some of the awfulness through your art. That’s a real blessing. :blue_heart: :purple_heart: :sparkling_heart:

Art keeps me sane! Having something like that to help get me through grad school has been a blessing thus far - grad students who have outlet hobbies tend to stick through it farther than the ones without

Here’s a sinoceratops, who some people portray as having holes in its headcrest since the fossilied skill has holes (picture attached), but I personally think this bone loss helped keep the weight of the crest lower for ease of movement. I kept to this idea though by adding some eyespots where those skeletal gaps are.
This one is based on the Yellow Keyhole line of Nuevo Leon kingsnakes, and the pose is HIGHLY referenced from the PNSO model (also attached)

Love y’all!

I LOVE how this one turned out!

Very nice! Hermit crabs are such funny creatures. Kind of odd that they’re called hermits, considering what social little things they actually are.

Thank you guys! I actually adopted two new hermit crabs last week to go with the one i’ve had since December so now i have a little group of three! I’m tempted to get a camera so i can watch them at night lol. At least one of them is down right now and maybe another so i’ll have to wait for naming until they come up, but eventually they’ll get names lol

Oh that’s so exciting! Please do share pictures and names (when you decide)!!

I’ve been pretty burnt out recently, and really aversive to doing anything on my laptop at all after work. I’m not playing video games, watching TV, or doing digital art right now. Must be mental fatigue from all the stats I’m running on this thing at work  :sob:

But dinosaurs continue! These are using colored pencils and india ink pens

A ceratosaurus bust based on a orange head SSTP (this one will have a digital full-body to go with it when I’m back in the mood)

A chonky spinosaurus based…mostly on vibes and pretty colors, though the original inspiration was a yellow perch

And a parasaurolophus based on a bay blanket appaloosa horse (my 2nd favorite coat color/pattern)

I like the texture on these. Different media, different possibilities. Very nice, all of them! I think the ceratosaurus is my fave in this group, mostly because of the look in his eye. He seems to be assessing, maybe plotting something.

This really made me grin. Good to know I’m not the only one who sometimes does things because it just feels right.

Gorgeous Appy, too! I am also a fan of bay blanket Appaloosas.

Gotta ask - what’s your number one?

Right?? So gorgeous I’d be spoiling it rotten!
And honestly, the top competing reigning/cow horses are treated like royalty, I’m almost jealous!

Yeah and I would never ride it, only feed it, pet it and spoil it! :joy:
