Reptile personalities

Sadly, I’m having trouble finding a bowl in the large size I need on Etsy. I may have to expand my search to things not intended for reptiles. I’m hoping to find a nice ceramic bowl that looks at least semi-natural. There are some lovely bowls I found, but they’re all pretty small. One downside to having a larger reptile species is that there are so many cute products that are just too dang small. :triumph: Mina does like to soak in her bowl occasionally (especially when she’s in shed), and the bigger she gets, the harder it is to find a bowl big enough for her to cram herself into. And since it has to be so big, I really do want it to look nice.

Oh I didn’t even look for one for reptiles- the one I got was advertised as a dog dish! Straight sides, for comfy bowl wrapping behavior that won’t tip the bowl.

I’d say try looking for ceramic dog dishes. They often get made with straight sides to reduce a dog tipping them over.
Past that, I start looking at soup serving bowls, lol.

Edit: You know, I probably oughta start a thread on this topic since it’s an interesting one

Similar to what @athleticshoelace said, try to expand your search. Etsy artisans probably have a TON of cute ceramic dog and cat bowls. Or get even weirder!
The 2 water bowls in my hermit crab tank and the water bowl in my tarantula enclosure were actually on-sale post-valentines day ceramic heart dishes from Kroger’s that are labelled to be heat-safe and food-grade! I got them 3 years ago so I don’t even know if they are still made, but even funky stuff could probably work, as long as you check it is food safe, has a safe glaze, and is dishwasher or heat safe!

@athleticshoelace @cmills Yeah, I’ll definitely have to look for dog bowls…or big salad bowls or something along those lines. She’s currently using a bowl sold as a dog bowl, but it’s not at all naturalistic (though it’s cute, it’s has cactuses printed on it). I’d held out a little hope that someone on Etsy might make big rock-looking reptile bowls, but alas, I couldn’t find reptile bowls sized for anything bigger than a bearded dragon.

I think if I can find something that’s just grey or brown on the outside and blue or green on the inside, that will look natural enough.

My first ball python Erabus was a total lover boy, you could carry him around and he just loved the attention. Now my second boy named Ptolema (silent P - pronounced Tolema, not to be confused with Ptolemy who was a total sook) is as per his name sake, totally aggressive, as soon as you slide open the door he strikes. I have been bitten once and dodged a few more times.
