Yeah, I can see where the offer of 4 mice is confusing, but hear me out!

I usually entice him out of hiding with a pinky onto a target. The target holds his other pinky and he’ll choose between the one he struck and the one laying there. He’lI swallow one, burrow for a few mins, then come back and sniff around on the second before also swallowing that one. If I just leave the pinkies on the target and don’t entice him to strike, he usually won’t eat them. (The first time I did this, he looked so confused that he had TWO and he deliberated for so long!)

This time, I enticed him with one fuzzy, he struck, coiled, then he put it down (as is usual) to sniff around the other options. He chose the two pinkies and left the fuzzies there.

The reason I offered two fuzzies: they were both roughly the same size around but one was longer than the other. I figured I’d give him a choice between the two… but he chose none.

That makes sense. You now have your answer. In other words, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, Just modify a bit. Maybe with more pinks you won’t have to bother with the supplements now. Sorry I gave you erroneous advice from the get go. Sounds like you were already on the right path for success
