It’s so good to hear that Sceptre is continuing to do well, especially being back up to adult mice! I definitely know how good it feels when they’re taking a full meal again. She can now just live up her retirement, as we all cheer on her legacy egg.
I know you do know! You and Celia have overcome some major challenges this year, too. I really hope this remaining egg make it. I truly appreciate all the support. (And I know you get that, also.)
As we know, the waiting is the hardest part, and I can’t imagine how much you’re trying not to fret or get too excited. Just know we’re all invested as heck in this special egg and your gorgeous girl, and counting down the days with you!
We’ve both had rollercoaster years, I hope yours has just as smooth a wind-down.
I’ve got dear Leak(e)y, have you considered any names if egg #3 pans out?
Oh, yes. Smooth finish, please!
I love naming babies! I’ve named most of my keepers so far although I have a couple from the latest clutch who are unnamed. My Caramels usually get names related to magic or mythology. I’m still thinking of this as Egg #3- at least, I’m trying - to avoid getting my hopes too high then having them dashed. But yes, a few possibilities have occurred. Can’t help myself, it seems.
If this baby makes it safely to hatching, I’ll be happy to have the community weigh in on its name.
Mireille is a beautiful name its French for miraculous if the baby is a female.
we are all praying for a miracle here.
Mais oui, ça serait bien! Merci.
Egg #3 continues to look like a normal egg. I’m trying to pretend it doesn’t exist so as to avoid drawing any egg-hexing bad luck.
Meanwhile, Sceptre had her first trip outdoors since she went blue before this whole wild episode began. It felt really good to see her alive, alert, and exploring again!
I’ve loved this girl for so many years. I’m so glad that she’s still here. I really appreciate everyone’s support through her difficulties.
She looks like she’s having a grand old time! So glad to see her out and about, she looks great and no worse for wear considering all she’s been through.
It certainly is wonderful! (I know you know just what I mean.
) She isn’t quite up to pre-lay weight but she’s close. More importantly, she seems to feel just fine! We had clouds and some rain late yesterday so things had cooled off enough to go outside this morning. Sceptre roamed around slowly for a while. When she came back to me, I assumed that meant she was done for the moment, so we went back inside and she had a meal. Very satisfying all around!
That’s so cute!
Lol it always makes me grin when one does that. Sceptre, Artephius, Odin and Tulip will do it pretty consistently. Now if I can just teach them to come when I whistle…
Here’s Egg #3. Looks like any normal egg. I’m sure my eyes widened a bit when I realized we’ve made it past Day 50. I’m afraid to be hopeful, but I can’t help myself.
It looks like an egg, which is a pretty darn good sign! The countdown is on, now, too. Keep on growing, 3!
How many days does it take 66? I think its safe to say we are all hoping for a miracle and are just excited to be a part if this.
Right??!!? I honestly don’t remember the last time I was so breathless about an egg looking like an egg. Trying not to jinx things but I cannot help getting happy when I see #3!
It varies with the temperature, and also with the parents. The rule of thumb is to start expecting pippies around 8 weeks of incubation. This year mine have begun pipping on Days 61-64. So yes, the countdown is on!
For those who are wondering, #3 is…
…still looking exactly like an egg. I’m begging to catch a whiff of that about-to-pip scent. Not gonna lie, the suspense is making me crazy.
Please please please be a very cute and healthy baby🤞
I think we all are excited here. I for one am one.
When an egg being an egg makes everyone excited, you know you’ve got a special little one in there. Can’t wait to see a little snoot post!
Ohh man, me too!!!
