This years breeding season

How many clutches are you expecting this season and what is your most anticipated clutch/pairing?

I’m a grad student so my collection is small, but unfortunately, it’s not looking like a great season for me. My flame ph pied female was paired to a pastel pied male multiple times and went off food in November, but never ovulated and won’t go back on food now months later. I repeated a pairing from last year trying to prove a hidden het albino, but that female just keeps rejecting the male. The only one I think may go is an OD firefly male to a single gene sugar female, which I have my fingers crossed for OD fire sugar combos. I am getting my first crestie eggs this season though, so at least there’s that.

I didn’t plan on breeding this year but…

I had my lessers retain sperm and surprised me with 3 eggs and 2 slugs. The pairing were both lessers last year. I got 3 BELs last year, no females so I’m hoping for one this year

.

The other possible sperm retailer this year is my 3450gm pinstripe, I paired her to my banana pastel last year. She went through the full gravid act but nothing and is now doing the same this year.

I’m currently expecting 6, maybe 7 if the female I’m pairing now goes. I’ve paired her once, but didn’t see much for breeding behavior so I’ll be trying again next month.

So far 3 clutches have been laid, from the following pairings:

1.0 super mystic x 0.1 pastel super mojave
6 eggs, 6 fertile

1.0 banana fire VPI axanthic (female maker) x 0.1 normal
7 eggs, 6 fertile, 1 infertile

1.0 banana fire VPI axanthic (female maker) x 0.1 pastel het VPI axanthic
7 eggs, 5 fertile, 2 infertile

And as for coming clutches…

1.0 banana piebald x 0.1 normal/poss het piebald
Due any day now (projected date was April 7th)

1.0 banana piebald x 0.1 normal het piebald
Due April 27th

1.0 banana yellowbelly x 0.1 pewter
Due May 6th

And possibly:

1.0 banana fire VPI axanthic x 0.1 spider axanthic (unknown line)

Hoping she proves out as VPI :grimacing:

I’m not expecting much given how slow my last two years have been lol. But here is my up to date visually confirmed pairings. I would be super happy with eggs from any of these pairings lol.

The orange dream vanilla is spotnose as well!

I’m most excited for my axanthic stuff this year.

I have a love hate relationship with it lol. I like a lot of the axanthic stuff I see. But none of it ever ages very well imo. I’ve hatched vpi and tsk in the past and wasn’t happy with the quality of snakes I was personally producing. So I got away from it for awhile I’m hoping this gcr project I have now produces quality snakes that age well. I have produced some nice pieds with the group still waiting for a visual axanthic!

Going for a smaller breeding season this year. I expect to have just 1-3 clutches. They will be very cool clutches though whatever I end up with. Here’s my pairings:

  • Trojan het Pied x Black Head Leopard het Pied
(Really excited to see a Trojan Black Head, and Trojan Black Head Pied. Hope I hit them!)

  • Firefly Spotnose Clown x Hypo Clown
(she slugged out last time 2 years ago, hoping this year is different)

  • Acid Black Pastel Mystic x Clown
(Just setting up for the future. I LOVE the Acid gene.)

  • Acid Black Pastel Mystic x Mystic Potion
(she doesn’t seem interested in him)

wow, reading the thread, you all have some nice stuff cooking!

excited for those sugar combos kayla!

i paired 5 females, and 4 seem to be going.
3 have ovulated and 1 is close to ovulation. the last girl is off food and won’t get back on it so i don’t think she will go. she is a pied.

the girls who have ovulated -
mojave clown x ghi het clown female
mojave clown x het clown
mojave clown & calico x ghi pewter vanilla

the girl who hasn’t ovulated yet -
mojave clown & pewter sandblast het pied x super cinny champagne pastel het pied (grey matter).

hoping for some nice hets i can sell to fund new pick ups, or of course urban camos from that last pairing!

this is our second season, so we are very excited. last season we only paired one girl and got one clutch.

oh yeah for sure! made sure to give him some good rest in between pairings. he was on food until about half way through the season so he didn’t lose much weight.

i hope your clown got the job done for you

You make me wanna get into carpets so bad! I really like the idea of pure stuff and non-introduced morphs. I love with Nick‘s doing with coastals, probably I’m gonna get involved with the true hypo tiger project lol.
