Built a 4x2 and have a 120-watt RHP. I feel like it takes up 2/3 of the enclosure and will not allow for an ample cool side. Was thinking of installing two 150w CHE in cages but wanted to see if there were any other thoughts. Thanks.
What species do you plan to keep in there? Main reason I ask is that CHEs seriously dry out the air in the enclosure, so if it’s a species that needs some humidity, I wouldn’t recommend CHEs.
You could try a smaller RHP, or you could try a deep heat projector. Those are probably the best overhead heating devices for preserving humidity.
If it’s an arid species that does well with low humidity, then CHEs would be fine.
Just be aware that if you’re planning to mount either a CHE or deep heat projector inside the enclosure, you’ll need to install a cage around the bulb so the animal can’t come into direct contact with it, as they can both get hot enough to burn.
Have you thought about under tank heat?
I have a RHP around the size of 1x1ft in my 4x2 enclosure what size is yours? you might want to consider one the size of mine cuz it work really well for the enclosure size.
