Unobtainable reptiles

I would want a bel phase one if I could get one.

I’d get a lacey, it’s just I’m not ready for a lizard of that size. Nothing bigger than three feet for me, and least for the next few years.

I would love to eventually have a private facility somewhere in a desert state like utah or southern colorado with lots of different monitors though.

My nearby zoo has a tuatara and they are super cool, you rarely see them out but when you do it’s worth watching them for a while.

Sometimes I like the bel phase and sometimes the normal (?) phase… It might depend on the specific Lacy.

If we can include fictional alien endoparasitoids in this category – Xenomorphs, hands down.

So cute it would literally be the death of you. 🥲

for me, it would have to be the Thai bamboo rat snake (O.P. Coxi), either I’m short on money or the ones for sale are hybrids, which I’m not a fan of due to the pattern differences. there’s some males available rn but I’m in the process of moving so that’s, unfortunately, a no-go.

Mine would be a toxic superconda hognose and another one would be a stormcloud hognose.

My third would be… IMG Motley RDR anery boa. Almost solid black beautiful!

Python natalensis, Southern African Rock Python or Southern African Python. Far as I’m aware no examples exist in the US and they are illegal for importation.

I do know a few European keepers with natalensis, but it is still rare there as South Africa will not allow their exportation. As the sixth and last member of the molurus complex on my bucket list, it is definitely unobtainable, but a dream. I actually prefer P. sebae, but I have many of them haha.

+1 on the pakistani jeweled ratsnake! I’ve found a guy in Poland who breeds them and has a melanistic female.

One day.

Yep their neat. The lizard that’s not a lizard. A sibling group to the Squamata where the actual lizards and snakes sit.

The illusive, in Australia living Oenpelli python (Simalia Oenpelliensis). No legal captives outside Australia.

I hate to be “that guy”, but technically now it’s Nyctyphilopython oenpelliensis

I’ve always loved and wanted a Giant Girdled Lizard aka the ‘Sungazer’ lizard, and/or a Dragon Snake
