Egg 11 didn’t hatch. I inspected it today and I could see some lines in the shell that looked like attempts to cut the egg from the inside, but didn’t go all the way through. So I cut the egg and it was dead, motionless with its egg tooth already off. I wish I would of cut it sooner, but there wasn’t any way of knowing. It was the largest of all the babies. I’m bummed it didn’t make it. But I suppose that is going to happen time to time.

That’s a tough break on #11! I am so sorry! The would have, could have, should have, are always in hindsight. This babe was just not meant to be.
But you have 10 success stories! All of them are quite remarkable! Congratulations on a job well done!

So sad on egg 11. 
There’s always part of me that thinks I should cut eggs, but I ended up really regretting it this year. So you never can tell whether it’s the right or wrong thing to do. Always a tough call.
Glad you have 10 incredible, healthy hybrids, though. They’re so unique and beautifully colored and marked! It’d be tough to choose which one(s) to keep.

Sorry you lost one. That’s never easy to accept for me, even though I know it happens regularly on nature. To cut or not to cut is always a difficult decision, and different people make different choices for good reasons. My own choice is not to cut until at least 24 hours after the last pip, but that’s me.
Congratulations on all of the healthy babies though! Every healthy one is a win!

I wanted to post a post shed update. They all shed without issue and half have eaten. It’s hard to capture their colors accurately.

Absolutely stellar! These babies are just going to get even better and better, if that’s even possible! I have to say that the top two on the right are my faves! I can see a face in the head-stamp on the top one and I love the caramel like stripe on the neck of the second one. But ALL are keepers!!!
