Reviving this thread to say that if you really like that super big, keeled scale look as t_h_wyman mentioned, then I would highly recommend egg eating snakes of the genus Dasypeltis. It can be really tricky to source food, but if you can manage that, they make great pets. They do a lot of climbing and burrowing. Species like scabra, fasciata, loveridgei, and bazi have somewhat viperesque patterns. They are meant to mimic saw-scaled vipers after all! They saw-scale and everything haha. Except when they grow to trust you. Then they’re just goofy, extra scaly little noodles. Just make sure you get a captive bred one. I got my CB bazi from Troy Quick, and she and her siblings are all doing amazing.
