Any monitor besides Ackie, Mangrove snakes, Hot species, Bearded dragons (Never been interested in them) and Chameleons. Never would get a Chameleon, while they are beautiful, I feel that they are so finicky with staying alive and they don’t live too long
I could agree!
Yeah Chameleons are gorgeous but just not for me.
I’ll never own anything venomous, excluding hogs and false water cobras since I like them and they are rear fang and mild. I’m an individual with only 2 braincells trying to keep track of things, and I learn mostly through very small mild mistakes. If I make a small error and an animal tags me (has never happened beyond my leo getting my thumb while I gave him oral meds), I’d like to be able to learn from that experience while still in this plane of existence.
I love venomous snakes a bunch and some of my favorite snakes are venomous, but I know my silly self better than that. If my soul was snatched out of my body every time I forgot a tiny detail or moved slightly the wrong way, I would not have lasted very long
I’ve got a pretty long list, but the most recent add to it was any animal with a wobble/wobble morphs. I know it’s a controversial topic, I won’t go into any elaboration or personal feelings re: breeding or anything else, but after spending 3.5 months caring for a Caramel Jaguar carpet python who appeared normal until you tried to handle her, I know I personally can’t handle caring for an animal with that kind of quality of life. She was absolutely gorgeous, but it was so heartbreaking to see her struggle, unable to control her body properly any time she experienced the slightest amount of stress. It was distressing to her and especially distressing to me, knowing that there wasn’t anything I could do to make it better, and any attempt to interact with her would make it worse.
All the power in the world to those who take on animals with neuro issues, I most definitely don’t have the emotional strength to do so myself.
I’ll never own hots. You’d see me on the news. RIP
My thoughts exactly no need for me to add to the stigma reptile hobbyists already face by getting my soul snatched because I’m a dummy
Yeah I won’t/cant keep hots, or even a False Water Cobra. I don’t even have a hognose, just because I do NOT trust my …Um, creative immune system not to do something absurd when hit by even medically insignificant venom. I have an autoimmune type condition and it has done some weird stuff with regards to histamine reactions before.
( I seem to handle bee stings, hornet bites and spider bites okay, but I still wouldn’t gamble on my odds.)
I don’t think I could keep any of the thick, heavy-bodied constrictors such as short-tailed pythons, Burmese pythons, ball pythons, or Dumeril’s boas. I’m just more into the active, large colubrids like Drymarchon, Ptyas, and Pituophis. Plus some of those communities have a focus on morphs and I strongly prefer wild-type animals.
