What would you do?

So sadly my amazing salamander Eggroll ended up passing away recently. It still doesn’t feel real that he is gone. But this isn’t the point of the post, but it does tie into it.

I am no longer at my “limit” for animals because of this. I am not really serious about getting another animal super soon but I do have room for a third 4x2x2 and was wondering, if you had an empty enclosure and could put anything in it that is a intermediate or below care level and preferably under $250 (absolute max of $400) what would it be? I don’t mind at all if it isn’t on the list below as a a new thing to look into keeps me entertained for a couple hours :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

So far this is my potential animal list. It somewhat in order of what I am considering more but it isn’t really perfect.

Snakes-

  1. A girlfriend for Elmo my scaleless dh albino lucy (probably a triple het but maybe visual gene double het)
  2. Male boa
  3. Blood/ST python
  4. Bull/pine/gopher snake
  5. Green anaconda
  6. Russian rat snake
  7. Ball python
  8. Japanese rat snake
  9. King rat snake

Lizards (more likely to happen)-

  1. 1.1 or 1.2 giant butterfly agamas
  2. Girlfriend for Potato (Blue tongue)
  3. Jeweled lacerta
  4. 1.3 or 1.4 curly tails
  5. bearded dragon

All this is hypothetical as I will probably find an injured animal that I have to take in before I convince the parental units to let me buy another reptile

And @lumpy you are not allowed to say a boa.

Get another Blue Tongue Skink so I can get a baby from you in the future lol

Free blue tongues for everyone who I know will take care of them properly . I could see myself doing that lol.

Now that I think of it, I do now have space for a rack system as Eggroll’s enclosure isn’t needed anymore… maybe I will get a reptile basics VE-6 or a Super70 3

I’d say a nice colorful corn snake! Or maybe a small group of garters with a cool bioactive setup! Or a uromastyx.

But of your list, I like a girlfriend for your scaleless Texas rat, Russian rat, or the butterfly agamas.

I will continue to suggest Japanese Rat Snakes until the end of time.

I knew I was forgetting something from my list!

A boa, blue tongue, or beardie!

Those signs like fantastic ideas to me!

From the list you have, I’d say a bull snake or a Russian rat snake.

I kinda like the idea of the butterfly agama group. Or a girlfriend for potato.

I would avoid the anaconda because it won’t be long before they get big… And potentially stinky. They have some of the worst musk I hear. If more space frees up then maybe?

Butterfly agamas are very pretty. I can’t imagine ever having a desert species personally, though. It be hoooomid here. :droplet:

Angolan python.

These are a tad pricey but I am sure would be well worth the extra money you would have to save

Or: An STP

I have a Blood, a Sumatran, and a Borneo. My blood is the youngest and he has developed an attitude. The other two are puppies.

Or:

A Super Ball (I wish)

It is a joke that I throw into every list I make . I am actually not even a huge fan of them. I like yellows more but I don’t have enough room for a 6+ foot enclosure.

Whew! Okay.

You COULD still go the SD Retics route… >_>;;
But that’s a different can of worms. Lol.

How could I forget about them? :man_facepalming: Thanks for reminding me!

I do live near Reach Out Reptiles…

If I can successfully breed mine next year… I may consider picking one up from them. @_@;;
I love the look of the goldenchild motleys… or would love a purple albino or caramel to go with my white albinos. Or heck, even just a neat little pure SD locality.

Ok, so I feel like this is stupid to even consider but if I get the job I applied for, I could technically afford one of my dream animals- a Mexican beaded lizard. But I am not sure how smart that would be. I know my dad likes them so it would probably be easier to convince my parents about getting one than another snake. But is it that stupid? I know a decent amount about them and feel that I probably should get the idea out of my head
