I have seen a few people taking old cabinets and what not to convert it into an enclosure. How could you go about it and keep humidity in and keep the wood from starting to get mildew. Also I can see whatever the wood is treated with could leach into the environment. How could you prevent this and improve it? or is it cheaper and better in the long run to get an enclosure. I have no future plans for this just yet just out of curiosity.
Using either polyurethane or epoxy to seal the surface would prevent water damage. Either product chemically inert if applied properly.
