When you’re getting the quotes for the work, I’d make sure to include putting in a shop sink. Will make cleaning, watering etc so much easier.
I would recommend a double sided sink so that you can clean tubs in one and place others in the other side.
@lumpy @randall_turner_jr I already have a double sided shop sink in my basement. I need to clean and fix it up a bit but it’s in pretty good condition.
That is a good deal. I wish I could have one, maybe one day.
@ashleyraeanne Wasn’t there a herper recently who’s house had a fire unrelated to the animals… but they lost quite a few animals in the basement from the flood the fire response created?
Flooding would be my only real concern with a finished spot in the basement. My old NY basement flooded a couple inches once or twice that I remembered as a kid, so thankfully nothing terrible. Sounds like @garciademueller is in a fairly safe from flooding area… Just don’t go cheap on insulating it and be careful with the radiator if anything. Unfinished NY basements can get really cold as well. XD;
We looked into it, it would cost too much. So for us no its not worth it. If we lived in a warmer climate it may be but not in Washington
Well besides cost its a win win for the animals wieght out the pros & cons of each project and go from there I’ve read lots of comments on here but only you know what’s gonna work best for you & the best interest for the animals, which ever you choose good luck & God bless, i cant wait to see what you decide, i have a 12’x14’ room to house all my 23 different chameleons & works out perfectly
Lots of good points made here. Basement!
Just out of curiosity, how big is the potential shed?
yeah, I say basement
