Okay i will give this a try at next feeding!! Thank you! And yes i still have not been able to contact them
the expo said they would get the contact information for me but never did. I can’t seem to find them selling anywhere or even a social or website in order to see what they fed before or if he’s ever successfully eaten. Worrisome indeed, i saw the seller listed at two of their expo sites so i find it odd they never got back to me. It was at the reptilian nation expo.
I have had some similar experiences with irresponsible sellers that have been super disappointing in hindsight. I am much more careful and choosy about my sellers nowadays. I wish you the best. You can do this! Your baby will figure it out!
That’s all frustrating. You’re doing things right, though. Keep trying things as suggested. Something will likely work soon. I don’t get why the whole blue dish soap thing works, but it often does. “Boiling” them works with many. Last season I had a few who went for brained pinks. More than one of them over the years has turned down just the thing which was suddenly just what s/he wanted.
You might put a clean deli and lid into the baby’s enclosure today so that but the time is time to feed him, the deli isn’t such a scary new thing. I don’t usually recommend messing with a new one’s decor but this can be helpful.
You asked about Reptilinks. They’re fine as far as nutrition goes, even for youngsters. I personally would wait on trying those until It’s tried a few other things.
Kudos to you for your patience with your new baby. It’s a shame that the seller didn’t do a better job of getting it feeding before seeking a new home for it. Also a shame that they’re ghosting you now. But hey, we’re all in your corner. One day, hopefully sooner than later, Kimchi will take a meal.
My daughter bought a tiny baby cornsnakes once that we were told was eating pinkies thawed. Tried several times, all the tricks and ideas mentioned here. He was starting to lose weight a little bit. Finally my brilliant wife said, force feed him a mouse tail. After about 6 mouse tails every 5 days, he got the idea and started taking pinkies. Or he got tired of me forcing tails into him.
Thank you so much for this, i definitely have felt less anxious with everyone’s advice so i greatly appreciate you all
corns have a great community!!! Im going to attempt the dish soap tomorrow, do i need to pat it dry? I usually warm up the pinkies inside of a plastic baggie so it doesnt get wet, but that could be incorrect - just what ive always done!
Good to know about the reptilinks, i definitely want to get him on the pinkies then mice first so will hold off on alternatives. Just a thought since my other snake would eat the whole bag if i let him LOL
Good to know! This would be probably a last resort option right? I’ve never had to force/assist feed before and know it can be stressful for snake (and owner honestly). Do you just snip the tail off the pinky after warming? Or leave it frozen then only heat up the tail?
The tail should be from a larger mouse. Like a small adult. That way there’s some sustenance in it.
It can be a bit stressful for the snake, so yeah it’s best to try other methods first. There’s always the risk of injury if you hold them too tight or don’t aim correctly. Though I have had a few just take it pretty easily for a couple tries before finally getting started on things themselves
You don’t need to dry it, it’s fine wet. I’ve tried dry vs. wet with many non-feeders and haven’t found it made a difference, so I never bother drying my mice.
I don’t dry mice either. I just thaw mine in hot water. Although trying dry vs wet meals is one other small change which can seem big to them.
@chchcheena, if you do get to a point where you need our want to try an assist feeding, sometimes all it takes is simply holding the snake and bumping its snout with the mouse. Some will go ahead and finish eating after you’ve gotten the meal into their mouth. It isn’t always super stressful though it is true that it can be. Fortunately, it’s not usually something that’s needed for long. Once their bellies have been full a few times they tend to figure it all out.
I WOULD LIKE TO PRESENT A VERY FULL KIMCHI ![]()

He finally did it and inside of his enclosure! I actually ended up going to a different feeder store here and their pinkies looked to be much better quality just in case that was the issue?
Sure enough i placed the pinky right on top of his lil humid hide and he started to defensively strike which he hasnt done. After deciding he was safe he constricted it so fast i was SO PROUD AND RELIEVED. Truly magical!!! Thank you all for all the advice and here’s to hoping he doesnt regurge and keeps it up! I will definitely keep all of these tips in my back pocket lol
Super awesome! Glad he decided to eat. Corns are super cool little snakes!
Fantastic news! ![]()
