Starla is still being a bum, but on a good note: Goldie has laid her second clutch and has finished up with an empty belly and a good drink!
9 eggs (mostly slugs like last year), but two that we’ll incubate until there’s no debate:

Should be pipping around Jun 28 if they go for 68 days, like last year. 18 days and counting…

Luna is not far behind Goldie. She’s laid her second clutch and has 14 good eggs and 2 slugs.
She also has an empty belly and got a good drink, so we’ll call that one a wrap!

Here’s to hoping she doesn’t try to produce a third clutch like last year. These eggs only weighed just over 5g each, so I have no idea how mini those hatchlings will be if they make it.
On another note, I think I’m giving up on Starla ever laying anything this year. She’s on a massive diet right now so she’s in better shape for next breeding season.

Goldie’s eggs are smelling good and we’re at day 66! Last year they went to day 68, so hopefully they won’t make us wait too much longer!

Oh, yay! Very exciting update. 
I’ve always liked fresh bell peppers, but never could have imagined how delighted I would be to catch that aroma without a veggie in sight!

Ok. Day 69. Eggs still look good, but all my second clutches last year looked good until day 73 when they started looking really bad. I cut them open and they were all d.i.e. This year, I’m not feeling great that these eggs are still not pipping, yet, in the same way. Surely this isn’t a repeat of last year’s second d.i.e. clutches? What am I doing wrong with my incubation???
We decided to cut open one egg to see if our fears were legit. I know, I know. Bad form to cut an egg before any of them pipped on their own. BUT, we had such a bad year last year, I let my son do just one.
Two exciting things: (1) the baby is moving (whew). (2) the baby is not an expected color+pattern. We expected some hypo or amber motleys from Dad #1 (who is ph stripe); or some amaretto normals from Dad #2 (who isn’t ph stripe that we’re aware of), but this baby looks quite grey, and also has a stripe!
I know we need to wait for first sheds to tell for sure on colors, but it appears that Goldie (mom) either has a surprise het anery; or Arctic (Dad #2, diffused amaretto) has a surprise het stripe.
The pics aren’t great. You’ll have to take my word for it. But there is, in fact, a little grey stripe hatchling in there…

Well, nobody pipping today, either. I didn’t sleep because I worried all night that curiosity killed the egg. A probably viable egg, too. Man. I just can’t escape the feeling I’m doing something wrong in incubation but I can’t figure out what it is.

I get that feeling since there were some problems before. It’s very human to be concerned, very usual to blame one’s self whether or not that’s accurate.We all suffer antsy feelings after a challenging year.
Try and set all that aside. There’s no concrete reason I can see to assume you’re doing something wrong. You are still on track for healthy babies soon. We’ll celebrate with you when they arrive.

That’s not a bad idea. I’d think something to conserve moisture would be helpful.
