Congratulations @shadowspiderjack
I absolutely love retics! That one is a stunner
Not allowed to have 40 snakes, so gets a single snake that equates to about 40 snakes in one by measure of weight, footprint and possibly personality. Nice.
I will ask tho, how did you do it? Mentally, I mean. I rent (because I’m young and devastatingly underpaid and locked out of the housing market) and I have been put in similar general situations like that where I am coming to butt heads with landlords and housing institutions over my animals. I used to have 9, now I have 7. I got rid of one by choice, the other I was forced to let go of because of the situation. I dream about her still, and I miss her still, 2-3 years later. But 7 is still too many, (and no one says how many isnt, but the most lenient guess is 4 because 4 is a lot but seen as ‘normal’) and yet, i don’t know how I can handle losing more of them like that. So, how do you go from 42 to 2 like that? How do you deal with the loss? Especially when you know it is coming from the normie world imposing their ignorant and arbitrary ideas of what kind of life you are allowed to live. Forcing you to make a sacrifice that isn’t logical or fair? Sorry if that is an intrusive question, but it’s heavy on my mind at the moment and I don’t meet many other folks who have a sort of similar situation to mine.
It’s really no problem at all!
I think the housing people just generally had something against reptiles though. I also had a few cats and birds which they had no problems with. However I have since moved house and turned the garage into an entire room for the reptiles with insulation, lighting ect. That’s why I’m able to keep them again and decided to get a retic which was a species I wanted for a very long time! Rehoming all the previous ones was a very difficult choice but I made sure they all definitely went to good homes but miss them all dearly. But however with my new circumstances it means I’m able to keep reptiles again
. And because it’s in the garage there aren’t any restrictions on it either.
