A quick update!

Unfortunately I have been very inactive lately as quite a few thing have happened in my life. My housing association had changed and they had new rules on pets enforced meaning i had to rehome almost my entire collection of 40+ snakes and was only able to keep 2 of them. However I am now finally in a position to rebuild my collection slowly and have even started studying a course in herpetology! I will now continue to be an active member in the commmunity again!

That sucks but I’m glad things are looking up!

It really was an unfortunate situation having to rehome many of the snakes I really cared for but on the bright side I do also look forward to seeing what else I could add to my collection this time!

Oh no, I’m so sorry. I hate HOAs with a fiery passion, and I hate how they can just change rules on a whim and turn people’s lives upsidedown for no good reason. /rant :triumph::rage::face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Glad to hear you’re in a better situation now, welcome back!

It truly is the worst but thankfully that situation is over now! I appreciate the welcome back! :slightly_smiling_face:

Its great to see you back @shadowspiderjack
Sorry about the issues but I’m happy you’re persevering in the right direction.

Welcome back! Golly, that was really quite something you were put through. HOAs are so often unfortunately unreasonable and ridiculous. I hope you’re able to rebuild min a way you’re very pleased with.

I remember back 30+ years ago reading the fine print in my HOA covenant when I bought my house and it said you were only allowed to keep dogs, cats, birds, fish and hamsters. Not gerbils, not mice, not rats, not Guinea pigs, hamsters, just hamsters. Of course I did not abide by that rule. It’s ridiculous that they have that kind of power over you.

Yeah I have an HOA that I ignore too! My house my rules! :joy:

The only limits my HOA has about pets on paper is that residents can’t have more than 2 dogs. “Pets are allowed, dogs are limited to 2 per unit and cannot be a nuisance to other residents.” That’s all it says about pets.

But I still keep very quiet about my snakes and spiders, because I don’t want some ignorant person with a personal phobia to hear about it and make it their mission to add restrictive pet rules that would push me out. That’s what scares me about HOAs: they can pretty much change whatever rules they want, whenever they want, and for whatever reasons they want. So not being in violation today doesn’t mean you’ll be safe tomorrow.

My actual landlord who owns the unit doesn’t care. And what the HOA doesn’t know won’t hurt them (or me).

Unfortunately I couldn’t hide mine because the house needed repairs (walls were quite literally falling apart) so when they arrived the noticed the snakes and said they weren’t allowed even though on the tenancy agreement it stated that caged animals were allowed. They had no issues with the cats even though there were 4 of them and only 2 were known about. It was all just very unfortunate.

I forgot to show the two I was able to keep!

Amber was my first snake so no matter what I would have wanted to keep him

And ember was always one of my favourites and one of the ones I had for the longest

Anddd because situations are different now like I previously mentioned I’ve also just put a deposit on a species of snake I’ve been wanting for a long while now :eyes:
