ABS used for enrichment

My boyfriend, a plumber, gave me some new ABS pipe; do you think it would be safe for my ball python? There are no sharp edges, and it seems similar to PVC.

If you are referring to ABS plastic then yes I believe it is safe under normal circumstances (no exposure to extreme heat or damaging chemicals).

As long as you clean it well, make sure there are no other extra chemicals or glues present on the piping as well as being free of sharp or abrasive surfaces your BP should be fine

Edit: Also make sure your BP can safely fit through the pipes! It certainly would’nt be good if your beautiful baby got stuck in that and it would be pretty difficult to remove the snake from that safely…

Thank you for your response. I believe the current size will be suitable for some time. Additionally, I have cleaned it and ensured there are no sharp edges.

Now that’s kinda cool! This would be great for my Woma python. Duncan is always getting bored and wanting attention!

I am a plumber and use loads of different waste pipes and fittings .
I have also found lengths of gutter for the larger snakes make great hides .
Then i also chop it down to make perfect hides in smaller tubs cut so both ends fit the side of the tub and use a hole saw to cut a little entrance.

What a great way to recycle while also enriching your reptile environments!:+1::blush:

I use PVC plumbing elbows for my pituophis. They crawl through them and roll them around their cages. They are always redecorating. Little bulldozer snakes.
