Animal lover, snake-obsessed, and super excited to be here!

Hi, I’m Umbrella, an enthusiastic animal lover with a passion for exotics. My goal is to be an exotic vet!!! I especially love snakes. I don’t have any pets yet, but my dream pets are: ball python (I LOVE BALL PYTHONS), leopard gecko, western hognose, some kind of tarantula, dart frogs, rosy boa, bearded dragon, and boa constrictor (off the top of my head). I’ve kept a few mantids and a jumping spider in the past, but I’m super excited to hopefully get a reptile! I’ve been learning as much as I can about reptiles for years, reading and stalking this site and borrowing books from my bio teacher. I have so much respect for all the seasoned, experienced keepers on this site, and I hope that someday I’ll be counted among your ranks!

Well hello there Umbrella Fella! Love the username btw! Welcome to this forum bunch of experienced reptile breeder/keeper/collectors! You have some lofty aspirations! We can always use more qualified exotics vets with the emphasis on Qualified.

We are glad that you have decided to join us! I want to warn you though that reptiles are like Lays potato chips. Once you buy one you will more than likely get the fever for another and then another and well you will have your list completed and then some before you turn around. So you can’t say you haven’t been warned!

Jump in any time. The more you participate the more you’ll learn. Just be aware that you will get constructive criticism/feedback from time to time and correction if needed. The moderators/staff/community support put the welfare of the animal in question first. However you will never be ridiculed for asking honest questions/seeking advice.

Thank you for the warm welcome!! Lol thanks for the warning… maybe I’ll eventually have a house with more reptiles than should be possible haha

I also love constructive criticism, especially because this isn’t just any hobby, you’re responsible for living things. The main reason I’m nervous to get a reptile is bc I’m scared I’ll accidentally hurt them- so any advice and help is seriously super awesome.

Well I’m tellin ya right now you need to get a head start on your first one because if you’re planning on becoming an exotics vet you’re going to be doing a lot of hands on/healing them so you need to jump right in and get over your fear.
