I’m suspecting A ghost tessera or anery tessera for the morph and been calling her a girl cuz from everything I’ve looked at here she seems to have a short tail after the vent. I probably will try testing the shed though
Edit: Had sent her shed in and got the results for her gender. She indeed is a girl.
What a cutie! All I can really say 100% from these images is that the snake is Tessera. It does look likely to be Ghost in the bottom left image. The lighting is throwing off the color of the images. If you could get pics on natural light (not a light bulb which says “natural daylight spectrum,” etc.) that would be really helpful. Outdoors on a cloudy day or near a window but not in blazing sunlight is good.
The snake looks young. Visually sexing youngsters is highly unreliable. Sending in a shed is a foolproof way to know the sex. You can also count scales past the vent on the shed.
I agree. If forced from these pics to answer, I’d say female ghost tessera ![]()
Yeah they’re still pretty small, tho they’re getting close to a year old cuz I got them in August last year. Anyway better lighting
Oh my gosh I thought the substrate was a pile of saffron!!
Huh. Well. I’m having a thought about maybe another possibility. Do you have pics (especially in natural light) from when you got the snake? How about belly and eye pics?
Just coconut fiber, exo terra stuff I got from a pet store. It do look like a bunch of dirt tho, probs red from the heat lamp. I’m not seasoning my snake TvT
I will do that tomorrow since it’s dark out and the lightning in my house isn’t the greatest, but looking at her again today (wanted to make sure her substrate wasn’t wet) i think she might be shedding soon. No blue eyes yet but she do be looking a lil glossy
I figured it was from the heat lamp, I don’t know how much a corn snake would like being seasoned with saffron lol
Tajin might work better ![]()
(don’t eat your snakes, im just making a joke about corn)
I would never eat ma snakes TvT
She indeed is looking to be shedding soon, got a little bit of blue in her eyes (and they be looking glossy)
Just sent some shed to get the gender tested ![]()
Sorry it’s been a minute, been busy with school and stuff, she is indeed a girl and I got more photos
Might have morph luck with more experienced corn breeders, but for sex you’ll need pretty clear ventral pics. It may seem rough, but you’ll need to hold your snake from just above the cloaca to as close to the tip of the tail as straight as possible to get the most accurate visual guess on sex. Otherwise, you’ll either need your snake professionally popped, probed, or sexed via shed!
Just saw this post, hope for quick responses!
Agreed. Clear ventral pics wouid allow for a reasonably accurate guess.
Sounds like the gender test confirmed your guess. That’s great to know for certain.
As for morph, still looking like a lovely Anery or Ghost Tessera to me. Clearer pics of the belly scales and eye will help determine which. If the belly scales are true black, she is Anery.
